Pea shoots are dead-simple to grow, provided you follow just a few best practices. They’re a large seed and require soaking before you actually plant them. For best results, you’ll want to follow this guide carefully – a lot can go wrong!
I’ve noticed that with peas, you’ll want to go a bit lower than the recommended seed amount. 8-9oz per tray is better than the 11-12oz you see me plant in this video. The soaking process simply makes them too large to fit all of those seeds in the tray, and you’ll get spotty germination!
Quick Pea Sprouts Info:
→ Amount per tray: 9oz
→ Soaking Time: 24-48hr
→ Germination: 24-48hr after soaking
→ Blackout time: 3-5 days
→ Days to harvest: 3-5 days

2 things I have seen done differently: 1.) Only soak 4-12 hours. Anymore and you increase chances of peas soaking up too much water and rotting. 2.) Water the seeds more, enough that you dont see those big thick side roots. That means they need more water and it takes away from root growth. They can be misted from the top until the canopy is too thick.
Is it just me or did you not show the placing of the sprouts into the soil?
Are you single
What is the plastic these trays are made of that everyone is using? Is it NSF? If not, and after repeated use, the seed roots in water touching this plastic could absorb toxins into the sprouts as the plastic deteriorates with excessive moisture, light etc. Is it healthy to use non food safe containers for sprouting? The general use for these trays is to start the seedling for replanting into a garden. Just a concern I have.
I bought some pea transplants for hydroponics and ate one just out of curiosity and now pea shoots are my favorite microgreens.
Nice video. I stack mine and let them get a little more light that adds more green leaf but this is a good way to do it
What is the ideal light cycle for pea microgreens?
Can we skip the blackout? I only have have a microgreens container, no soil.
we live in Oregon and mold is profuse here. how do I keep my peas from molding?
maybe it's me, but I'm confused…
would dried split peas from a grocery store sprout?
What other seeds can you grow using the same method with the mesh trays?
Do they have to be harvested in the 12-15 day period? Or can they be harvested longer after that?
Hi There love the video (and your channel). One question, how many hours of light are the peas getting? Also do you continue to water with spray bottle 1 – 2 times a day from when they are placed under the lights? Or less/more? Thanks, keep up the good work.
Any tips on how to get pea seeds cheap? Buying them in garden stores gets quite pricey and I haven't had any luck finding dried peas in grocery stores either. Most only carry split peas which aren't the same thing.

I like to use a colander with no holes.
The Asian tiger mosquitoes (you can identify them by the alternating black/white bands on their legs) are establishing themselves in SoCal. I had no issues with mosquitoes 20 years ago, but now they are everywhere. They bite during day time as well, so it's quite annoying. You will need a set of strategies to reduce their numbers: 1. remove any standing water. These guys can reproduce in a tiny bit of water (such as a bottle cap). 2. Trap food-seeking female mosquitoes. 3. Use traps to kill egg-laying mosquitoes and their larvae. Let me know if you want more information on 2 and 3.
Hi thank for the video. Please, what kind of soil you use?
So if you don’t wash them do you store them on counter top or fridge?
How do you get rod of any mold?
Thanks for all your videos. I tried sunflower micro greens and they were great. I’m trying pea micro greens now, and one week in, they’re really leggy. I don’t have grow lights and they’re on my kitchen counter. Is there a trick or is it the variety I used? Thanks!
I love a presenter who doesn't have to be perfect and is willing to show us his/her mistakes. In my life, I have learned much more from failures and mistakes than I have from success. In your willingness to take this approach, you have saved many of us from making the same mistakes. Thank you.

I'd washem for mosquitoes lok
So after soaking the peas, we pour them into a colander. Then what ? Does the colander sit in the dark or in light ? Do we need to keep them moist with a spray ?
will they grow back after you harvest?
Ah thank you —I was wondering if you could do it in a tray like that without hole or if you had to bottom water . ….seems you can do it both ways. Thanks again for making this
