  1. Happy to see how well the garden is doing.. Will u do a vid on how the garden is doing after u came bak.. Granted it is a short space of time. But that can make all the difference in a garden

  2. The vine is Bindweed – a relative of Morning Glory. It’s a pain to get rid of as every tiny bit of root must be removed from the soil. Don’t let it set seed. The vines will spread and choke out your plants, so I’d suggest getting rid of that as soon as possible and being vigilant about getting rid of any as soon as it shows up.

  3. Jess, be careful on the hoop house plastic. You’ve mentioned using the cheap plastic from the big box stores a few times but the problem is that their plastic isn’t UV resistant and it’s thin. You will find that the plastic breaks down after only a season or so. It also doesn’t let as much light in to your plants as horticultural plastics. You will find it’s a better investment to buy greenhouse plastic from somewhere like the Greenhouse Megastore and cut it to the size you want. If you use PVC pipes with plastic covers, you will have to cover the pvc pipes with something or there will be a chemical reaction with the plastic which will breakdown the plastic covering. Typically felt tape is recommended.

  4. Ashwaganda is an adaptogen – aka it helps your cells adapt! A tea or tincture or it will assist in sleep, anxiety and even weight gain or loss depending on what your body needs. You can pull some root up now but it will be much bigger if you give it one more year – It should do just fine in your climate

  5. If I heard the type of the plant right .. I believe it has medicinal properties especially for fertility and hormonal balance . I known people who recommended the powder extract for us before since we are trying to conceive . It is very expensive and rare to find in the USA . But I am not sure if this is the same plant or not

  6. @19:00 instead of thinning ( since I don't have the required courage to do so lol ) I let them get a little bigger and then pick the biggest of them to eat and let the small ones mature with more space to grow lol . I can not pull out a healthy looking seedling without being able to eat it my heart just breaks every time I try to do so hhhhhe

  7. Vine is wild morning glory. Ugh be vigilant about pulling..long tap root…and don’t let it set seed!!!! For winter garden in greenhouse/poly tunnel check out Patrick @ One Yard Revolution his channel is the bomb. I just want you to know that your videos are so incredibly INSPIRING, I love that you highlight both successes and failures. I get so many great ideas and “ah ha” moments.

  8. I have to agree with others that the vine with white flowers is bindweed and should be removed. It will cover my lilacs and strangle them if not removed. It killed a spirea bush one summer when I was laid up.

  9. In my own research on herbalism practices, ashwagandha root is used as an adaptogen (aka. helps with anxiety, depression, stress in the mind and body by reducing cortisol levels), anti-cancer properties, and lowers blood sugar. Also, although it is used in ayurdevic medicine (old indian medicine), in chinese medicine it is used to increase fertility, adaptogenic properties and boost immunity (increases white blood cell count). Use the root to brew a tea (boil for a while, because it's a root), and sweeten it because it tastes sometimes bitter.

  10. I don't know if you mentioned the results from freezing the tomatoes. That's actually what I do with all the tomatoes I want to turn into sauce/juice. As for the last frost date, I think it kicked everyone. I lost all of my initial starts from my garden and started all over again.

  11. Jess and Maya (sp)..I am Cotting. I moved to the foothill mountain area of NC.about 2 years ago. I'm slightly different zone..but not too far? I am really taking your Arkansas tips. I
Lived in Arkansas in 1975 for a year or two. Great pecans back then…Clarksville. Heart shape leaf…white flower is morning glory…wild one.. I think your partnership…family participation is so very neat.

  12. Jess that plant growing up your trellis is bind weed ! Yank it out! Those flowers will put off many seeds and it will be every where and it chokes out good plants

  13. This fall, I'm planting radishes, which I've never cared for; beets, which always taste like dirt to me; and kohlrabi, which I have never even tasted before, because of you…not to mention the things I'm planting now…like scarlet runner beans because they have beautiful flowers. ♥ your blue peacock…
