VIDEO: Pothos Care 101: Is This the Easiest Houseplant to Care For?

Pothos, also known as Epipremnun aureum, HAS to be one of the easiest plants to care for…ever. It’s native to French Polynesia and has become invasive in many tropical countries…but in our homes it’s an epic plant!

I’ve got a few pothos varieties for you in this video:

– ‘Satin’ Pothos (Scindapsus Pictus)
– Green Queen Pothos
– Marble Queen Pothos

There are a few other cool varieties to look out for, too: golden pothos and neon pothos are some of my other favs.

It’s exceptionally easy to care for, needing medium light, well-draining, nutrient-rich soil, and fertilization once a year or so. You can let the vines trail or climb, depending on your aesthetic.

Pothos propagation is best done via cuttings in water, as I find the soil method is slower and has a higher failure rate.

  1. I have 3 pots and from 3 pots 1 got sun burn on leaves but other 2 doing well. Can it be any different reason? All 3 pots are side by side. Here is summer now temperature 40+ degree Celsius.

  2. Nice vid. I have a green queen and I love it. So simple. It is healthy, but not growing/trailing. I think I just need to get it into a larger pot. I'm hoping for a Manjula or Pearl 'N Jade next. We'll see.

  3. Yo, where did you get the plant holder where the SATIN POTHOS is in at 3:22?? (the one in your bedroom) Trying to find one like that but cant find it any where.

  4. I recently got some pothos and repotted them. Some of them started to droop and turned limp. I'm not sure what it's missing, I can't tell if it might have too much light, too less, too much water or not enough. Can you give some advice on how to keep them healthy and strong? Or at least living long

  5. Hi! I have a question about care: My perfectly healthy pothos started having yellowing leaves all of a sudden. I haven't done anyhting different from what I'd been doing so far. I'm from Argentina and it is mid winter here right now, but I keep them indoors. I moved houses 3 months ago and they adapted well initially. Could this be related to that? They are in a well-lit room and I water them only when I see the leaves "fainting" a little. Thanks! I found your video very interesting!

  6. Please help! My pothos plant seems getting weak. Stems used to be stronger and leaves thicker. Now stems are limping, leaves feels thinner. I gave all purpose fertilizer before this happened. Is this the reason? (By the way fertilizer is 10-10-10). Some leaves are yellow. I've read that is sign of overwatering. So I am taking easy on giving water. Now I dont know what to do…..

  7. I am struggling with my regular green pathos .. it seem that the leaves burn every time I water it which is probably every 5 days when soil feels dry … and get droopy when it’s gets a lil sun. My poor lil Rufus the pothos
