  1. Thanks Patara for the history lesson! So the American Indians helped White Man survive–is that in the history books? Also, about the materials you wear, i.e., cotton when cooking, to avoid said material from melting on your skin–it is good to know when planning what to wear when traveling by airplane. Wear cotton! No man-made materials!

  2. Patara. I LOVED this! I want to make this stew. I love historical videos, so you can show em anytime. I don't think I have seen the reflector oven before. And I have been to a lot of historical places.(We home schooled 5 kids). Thank you.

  3. That was fascinating hearing about history of the 3 sisters meal. I know people who have planted the corn, beans and squash together, they liked the result. Thanks for the history lesson. 🙂

  4. That was so enjoyable! I found the little bit about the clothing interesting, and goodness – would love to have one of those old time reflecting ovens! Thank you for bringing this to us x o

  5. I had no idea that growing like that was called the three sisters. I just naturally gravitated to doing it when after my first few years of planting my little garden out back. When I learned the story it made perfect sense that the indigenous people of the land would do it like that. Just as I thought Why not use that corn as a pole for my beans. This is the first I'm hearing of the stew and I'm going to be adding this to our menu. Many thanks to the Great Spirit, his peoples, and to you for sharing this wonderful meal with us.

  6. my gram used to make those cornmeal pancakes and then layer them with fresh sliced green onions, cubed cheddar cheese and hot enchilada sauce. Then she put canned olives on the top. it's really good. You marinate the green onions and cheddar cheese cube in a little vinegar, 1/4 cup or less, for 45 min before using. It's a great dish for camping, no oven.
