Luke, what size are your Rockwool cubes in this video? Are they 1.5 x 1.5 inch, 2 x 2 inch, or…? Thanks for the videos!
Great video with a lot of information! I do have one question though. Once you put rockwool in the system, do you keep it wet or dry?
is that food grade plastic your using?? or just garage storage bin plastic?? theres a dig difference, you didnt learn that from other same vids like your doing? hope your not poisoning people and yourself. be smart
I don’t have a water filter, but I have a water distiller. Would distilled water work?
show us mints and other herbs grow in this, they are more useful plants in small spaces.
Hi i m new hydroponics/aquaponics is it ok to put 46-52-34 or is it to high.
Awesome video! , how often do you fill the bucket with water? Or do you never fill it with water once you fill it the first time ?
looks like its even cheaper than buying compose soil….
"Poh-tuh-bull" watch Jeopardy!
I’m new to this…where’s the link to the products?
I just discovered your videos as I am extremely interested in Hydroponic Gardening. I live in Florida and Lettuce, as you may or may not know, is a Fall/Winter crop, which I just learned a few months ago. I did not know this as I’m used to gardening in my birth state of Michigan.Thank you for sharing and I look forward to future videos.
Poe- table. Not “pot” table. Potable isn’t spoken how it’s written.
I know this is an old post, but isn't it odd they make square cubes that go into a circular pot.
FYI if you screw up and mix your nutrient at less than 1/2 strength everything stil grows…. just more slowly
Have you ever tried an NFT system? Takes up less space, can get more plants in to a smaller space especially if you go vertically.
Calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate form calcium sulfate, which has a (very) low solubility and will sink to the bottom of the solution. You will most likely end up with much less calcium than provided.
I assume you have to top off the water occasionally? And wouldn't the oxygen get depleted pretty quick if the water isn't getting oxygen dissolved in it?
I like out in the country and have well water. I am growing some cuttings of chocolate mint as an experiment in a glass vase and doing nothing but changing the water every about 3 days. They are growing! Honestly better than the mint potted in potting mix
How come you never told us about the system within the hydroponic starter
Can I keep the bins outdoors? I have watched your videos and am new to gardening. I have ordered the five gallon bins and all other materials. I no you grow yours indoors. I am worried about the Florida heat. I am wanting to grow lettuce. Thoughts?
I like what you did and how you explaining on how you do it. Question is it good for the out side too I meant in the balcony
I’ve seen those containers at Walmart.
Once the bigger part of that bit hits the plastic put the drill in reverse and it will cut it better and will make a smoother cut and not try tear your arm off!
Hi Luke, where is the amazon link to buy the grow solution blend?
Thanks!
Brian
Luke, do you have to change the water during the growing cycle, or is the nutrient sufficient to grow out the crop completely?? Thank you sir
I want to try this on a small scale maybe just one tote. My question is grow light. I have one GE 40 watt high output 72 PPf. Would that work and how far from the tote should the light be?
When drilling thin plastic lids take the lid off and drill on top of a piece of 2×6 lumber
Solution starts out at the bottom of the netcup, but eventually the water will get used up a drop. That creates the airgap, but what if the roots don’t reach down to the solution anymore?
Say the solution drops down further, do you ever have to refill? At least to bring it up a couple of inches?
To remove the chlorine from city water, just fill up the totes with water and let them sit in the sun for a few days. The chlorine evaporates
You can then top it off and the amount of chlorine will be negligible
