  1. I absolutelt love the decorations used on this shipping container home. IE pallet flooring, walls with ship lap or 4 x8 plywood strips or even pallet walls. They come out looking so great! Painted or stained concrete floors are sweet too. Basic wood trim used around windows and doors. My idea of a shabby sheik country home and by the way, will be using some of these ideas in our place too! Have a blast and loving your videos!

  2. I LOVE repurposing things!!! I think when you repurpose items they have more meaning and less chance of not meeting your expectations. When you go rustic like that it is so forgiving ….just enjoy…..FYI no matter what; expect the unexpected and just power through it….it takes WAY WAY LONGER than you want.

  3. Excellent, I LOVE reno videos!!! Ana White has some free plans on her website for easy cabinetry, she has awesome videos too! Free and repurposed materials and sweat equity, right up my alley!!! TY

  4. Your boots remind me of Earth boots I had back in the 70’s. I loved those boots . I felt they were like heavy leather socks. Wore them all winter for at least 3 years❣️I was pretty OCD about saddle soaping them a couple times a monthand using mink oil. They developed into very water repellent leather.
Who doesn’t want to wear a soft, supple foot supporting leather Sox all winter? HEAVEN❣️

  5. Have you considered “ lime washing” your brick fireplace? It gives a beautiful effect with lots of character while camouflaging any repairs. It is also a homeschool chemistry lesson on crystallization. Put it on as thin and clear as water then watch it over a few hours cure into a hard ,not chalky finish. I’ve used lime wash on my entire exterior 1970’s plain all orange brick home and applied it to my interior brick fireplaces… it will not work if the surfaces have been sealed as one of mine was…we simply watered down white paint and redid that one… but we much preferred the crystallized look to the flat look of the paint. Try it, crazy inexpensive as well!

  6. I’ve been toying with share or don’t share some ideas for homestead ideas decorating your new studio. So here goes
1.) Use a vintage laying box as a wall mounted shelf/bookshelf.
2.) Use milk old/ butter churn bottles and weathered terra-cotta pots as pencil/pen/stuff holders.
3.) find a vintage egg crate or incubator as storage/ tables.
4.) Mount vintage gardening tools on a wall.
    5. ) Use old feed/flour sacks table cloths or wall art.
6.) Mount those artistic seed packages(you’ll need 2) in pallet wood shadow boxes one is open, one is closed, snap a photo of the grown plant and then mount some seeds so essentially you have 4 matted items per frame.
5.) Use milk cans a stools… make pillow tops from vintage fabric.
6.) find a dry sink for a table..
7.) Use burlap gunnysacks as a chair rail wall paper (this takes a lot of paste)
7.) Cover a section of the ceiling with old/rusty metal roofing.

Hopefully you’ll find one of these ides useful.

  7. I put a vintage cast iron farmhouse sink in my 1/2 bath in my mudroom (door is next to our veggie gardens). It was 100% the right choice. I looked at buying a refurb (or to be refurb) but ended up with an American Standard single basin cast iron sink. (it was $400 which is INSANE! We too are very resourceful. But this was the lowest price I could find… I didn't trust myself to refurb an old sink. In retrospect I should have gone for it!). I'll post a picture to my Insta today @fruitcakemomma

  8. Definitely either a whiteboard or a blackboard to make notes on. I like it when the schedule is up on a board as you see it every time you look up. Even a big piece of cardboard covered in felt for a pinboard. I also like those boards with holes in to put hooks into to hang stuff (containers for seeds?)
