Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. Why have I been watching videos about a man building a log cabin in the Canadian wilderness when I should've been watching you? Great trailer – you remind me of a cross between Peter Russell-Clarke and Costa Georgiadis…

  2. Hi Mark, Absolutely addicted to your channel and I've been an avid watcher for a couple of years now and my grand-daughter loves the channel as well. However while planning our growing year Miss 12 asked if we could try Rockmelon and me being me, said of course Honey. Well my first instinct was "how hard can it be?" and my second was "I'll check out SSM." That's when we discovered there are no vids about growing melons. Is that because you haven't done them or because you haven't grown them? Asking for Miss 12. BTW, we are just south of Brisbane. Cheers.

  3. Woah! That snake is soooo scary! I think I would never go back to the garden if I see one like that. But all the other animals are super cute. Even the fox. Chickens are in my wish list. I am allowed four in the city but I need a good coop before I can get the chickens.
