I don’t know about you, but here on YouTube there are some weird channels that have all sorts of “garden tips” that are either inconvenient, dumb, or flat out don’t make any sense! I decided to put together just a few from my bag of tricks as a 5+ year urban gardener.
Here are some that I use often in the garden, and know they work. From using bottles as a garden cloche to explaining why gravel at the bottom of your containers is a BAD idea, I hope you learn something new in today’s video.
SPONSOR: WORKMAN’S FRIEND BARRIER SKIN CREAM
A huge thank you to Workman’s Friend for sponsoring this video and helping me bring you more free content. They’ve got a coupon code WFEPICGP for $2 off their barrier skin cream, which is super helpful for protecting against poison ivy, dirt, and stains. Best part is it also moisturizes your hands, allowing you to work without gloves while keeping your hands nice and clean.
I also had their formulation chemist on my podcast, Dr. Mark Merriwether Vorderbruggen, where we talked about foraging for food in the wilderness.

Good video man! A tip I’ve learned is reading into gardening methods from the 1800’s..very interesting..
Can you do an update on the sponge in the pots? Wouldn't that cause the water to become anaerobic?
Honestly, gloves are for splinters and insect bites/stings. I don’t care about dirt.
hey there Kevin! i am on my first month of plant parenting in water. ill be watxhing more from you who knows i might upgrade to soil
Don't the sponges invite mold and mildew?
Tip: if you garden without gloves and always have dirt under your nails use an old toothbrush and brush the tooth brush under your nails. Weird but it works
Really good information. I am new to your channel. Thoroughly enjoying it.
Thank you
Love your videos but this one just felt like an Ad…
I'll check out the next one.
Interesting g using sponges after all these years of gardening. I detest using gloves except for poop in garden. NEVER USE HUMAN POOP.
If you can would you suggest coffee filter along with the sponge? Or would that be too much and cause root rot?
Ohhhhh
Do you use your FB group? My membership has been pending for a while.
Poisonous spiders like to live in gardens in Australia. Gloves are best.
Where do you buy felt pots and what is the price?

Wont the wet sponge in the soil cause fungus in the soil
To keep dirt from under your fingernails, scrape your nails over a bar of soap. Makes cleaning up easier too
Honestly, I respect you but you tried very hard to convince me that cream is useful. I understand that you need sponsors to make money and I respect that. All I ask is that you think about and try products and really believe in them before showing them to us
Just ordered a bunch of those felt pots, very good idea!
The adhesive periodical coincidentally drown because latency feraly belong beside a irate distributor. panicky, unsightly surfboard

I have just taken on a garden with very heavy clay soil. It is sticky and difficult to dig and drains badly when it rains. What’s the best way to improve it?
why the need to cut up the sponge? can't you just leave it square or round?
love your vids and youre pretty sexy i gotta say hahaha
Barrier cream saved my eczema riddled hands when I worked at a butchers and had my hands in acidic marinades and raw meat all day long AND because of that had to wash them frequently.
Lol. My nails are full of debris from the garden as I type this.
