  1. Hi Patera. Love your videos and I love geneology. Been working on mine since 1998. My family are also from McMinn co. I found out I have a third Great grandmother named Morning Dove who was part Cherokee. How cool is that?

  2. You were in my neck of the woods. I live in Blount County. I just started a homestead last summer. I'd love to meet you in person for lunch sometime. Let me know when you'll be back in the area.

  3. WOW 06:49 Like a walk into a time warp of the 1950's and 1960's! I have not seen a restaurant like that anywhere in decades. Even the food looks freshly made exactly like that time period. Such memories it resurrects. Love your channel. You are blessed to live close to where your genealogy takes you. You can only do so much on the Internet. Would love to see a video about your Civil War era heritage in the south.

  4. I found a place where in my family line where it said a certain family member died and never had kids but it was obviously not true because I am here. I found out that it was not put on record that he was married and had kids because the woman he married was native american. I had no idea any of my family had any native american in them. Things like that did not even cross my mind. I have found out so much stuff about my family! Great video!

  5. Don't forget wills. If you have a name and a county that they lived, you can always check for a will for a husband or a wife.
And I don't understand why on most trees there will be a direct line and no other family members. I got to know who everyone is and their kids, in- laws whoever why document any if not all.

  6. My parents have been doing genealogy for decades. I'm not sure all the kinds of records that you have been looking at. But there are tons of info not only in death records, but marriage certificate, birth certificates, wills, Census records, and even newspaper articles. I think there are more sources but can't think of them atm.

  7. Awesome! I grew up in this area of Greenback and still live here. Neat to see your video of it. I recognized some of the names you captured on camera. Thanks Patera!

  8. Patara I have been a subscriber for a long time and I also grew up with a majestic Pyrenees. I wonder if you are my kin? You know my grandmother had eyes just like your language mentor Ms. Jackson.

  9. Oh my goodness Patara, I just LOVE these types of video where you talk about geneology! I've just started my journey into my dad's side, where there is a deep Cherokee connection. Every tiny little bit of info I find is incredibly exciting! I can't stop cuz it's just addictive… thanks for sharing.

  10. made me want to cry–sure miss everyone thats gone in my family-am now the elder but my memory is soo good can remember back to age two and setting in the stroller with my sister just like it was yesterday…why the Lord has left me with these real memories I do not know. I did our familys genelogy and gave my children each copies to do with what they will with our "begats" as the bible calls them…Thanks for video I feel the spirit of the people and the past there and it is deep. God bless. PS==and am 70 now.

  11. Very nice video! Hope you find all you’re looking for and more. Wish i could find more info on my Dads side. The records seem to go back about two generations to a church fire and stop. That church in southern St Marys county MD held all our family records prior to that.

  12. Love this museum! Will need to check it out some time. That artwork of the horse with the arrowheads is to die for! Would love to own that

I am totally into genealogy right now. So interesting and fun trying to solve all the mysteries
