  1. Yes Sir nothing better then getting help from Mother Nature. We had a lot of rain this year that saved me a lot of watering. Highest temp I have seen was 156 degrees. I use a digital meter. Bales cooking right along buddy. See ya tomorrow for day #5. Have a great day!

  2. I started my small bale garden a little earlier than you did – I'm in zone 8A. The bale that had my salad garden is finished and yesterday, I planted a Celebrity determinate tomato there.

Even though I've watched your previous season videos, I was still amazed as I dug into the bale to plant the tomato to see such rich compost going down at least 6 inches into the bale. I added a little soil and composted cow manure to the planting hole, and planted the tomato deep. My other bales with tomatoes are coming along really well. The indeterminate tomatoes planted three weeks ago have more than doubled in size.

Question for you…how soon should I fertilize the tomatoes? Each one had soil and composted cow manure added when it was planted.
