The main crop potatoes get planted out as well as the sweet peas. It’s a warm evening on the plot and spring feels like it’s starting to give way to summer.
Sit back and ENJOY.

  1. From Google – Onion and garlic have many purported medicinal uses; however, they should not be fed to rabbits. Onions and garlic have an immunosuppressive effect in rabbits, and rabbits may also have an anaphylactic reaction. This could be a trend, why wait for road kill and your food to have tyre tracks through it, when you can have …Allotment kill 😉

  2. I hope the rabbits dont like the onions mate. You could put a chicken wire fence around each bed you can get it a 60cm high rolls. I know it a pain though.. When I first got the quail I made an electric fence from on of the fly swatters you know the electric ones. I had cages not the run I have now and the dogs were always jumping up at them. Just two wires and taped the button it cured the dogs and obviously not lethal I tried it on the wife and kids first.. Just kidding about the kids ;-). But easy to do. 4 wires all way around the bed 6 inch high 2 pos 2 neg no more bunny problem.

  3. Would that mesh or some chicken wire wrapped around those raised beds not keep the rabbits out? I mean I know you want to feed your pets but ya need some to eat for yourself ya know. LOL. Good job done of the tater rows. Hope you have a great weekend buddy!

  4. Rabbits and mice and rats no, no, no, Virginia that was a different tale all together. LOL
What we do to have food to eat. I've often wondered what professional growers do keep from losing their lettuce crop, for example. So I asked. Seems the farmers I know have coon dogs who just love rabbit! Guess that is one way. No, seriously I like the idea of your lupine fence, perhaps you could do something similar to your lettuce and such to keep the varmints away. I enjoyed this weeks episode, thanks for sharing. Happy gardening!

  5. Lupin envy again this year…all 8 of the masterpiece lupin i planted last year not one of them made it thanks to the voles. I'm thinking of planting them in small gage chicken wire baskets but that also seems like a lot of work and I'm lazy. I will just have to settle and admire your lupins via Youtube. ☺️

  6. Great Potato planting sesh. Cut and come again Lettuce for Rabbits! You are so generous, Adam. Sweet Peas, oh yes, got some on the go grown from seed. Rabbits romp about in the beds.. but, hey, you might have an as yet, unknown, mystery pest (twilight zone music). Frosts abound this weekend, tis true! .. — Elly

  7. I wonder if you made up a garlic spray and try spritzing your plants with it, low down near the ground, it might deter the rabbits? Of course you'd have to give it all a good spray each time you're about to leave the allotment. I'm starting a bunch of different seedlings, lettuces, bok choy, beets, all in small round planters. I bought these trays that hold 18 small planters (cups) not sure the size but big enough to give seedlings a really good start. I did two trays of them and just have them laying on the grass in a sunny spot with fleece over them. I don't have a proper garden, just the whole front yard full of pots of all sizes!

  8. web recipe – Homemade Repellent To Deter Rabbits Away From The Garden  Mix 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, and a squirt of dish detergent with 20 ounces of warm water. Shake the mixture well to incorporate. Let it sit outside in the sun for a day, then put into a sprayer and apply to plant leaves. This homemade rabbit repellent will have rabbits running the other way. The mixture will need to be reapplied after rain or heavy watering.

  9. Adam, I've never seen such a great structure for plant protection lol… Cool camera work – I sowed beetroot in my latest vid too but it wasn't near as detailed as yours. Cheers mate 🙂

  10. Hi mate, great that you’ve got your spuds in. Sorry to hear that the rabbits are still there. Coincidentally I saw a rabbit for the first time at our allotment site this week. I’ve had a plot for five years and never seen one before. Hope they don’t start causing me problems too! Take care. Nick

  11. Awesome. Love it. Here we got a backlash in the weather from 10 degree C at night to -0.5….Not good…daytime only max 8….last week 20 to 25 degree C daytime…
We got some rabbits here to…hope they leave my tomato plants alone when I put them out…
Take care and stay safe and stay strong my friend
