Pruning is one of the most common tasks we have in the garden, so it makes sense to have a full understanding of the different types of pruning shears out there. From anvil pruners to bypass pruners, we’ll talk about the different types, shapes, and technologies that these garden tools use to help you get the job done in the garden.
I’m a big fan of going deep on the research and nerding out so you don’t have to, and hopefully after this video you’ll be able to pick the type of pruner that works best for your preferences and garden.

What's your fav pruner?
Thank you so much for making this video!! I know what pruner I need now!
Yes!! Totally confused. Thanks for this vid.
REALLY appreciated the clarity and pace of this vid. Exactly what I was after. Thanks so much for putting it out there!
Super useful!!! Thank you!
How and when should we sterilize our tools?
I have started a handyman business and I am learning alot about proper plant care. Yes, I was the guy who used hedge trimmers for all trimming and pruning tasks but I am changing my colors. Thankyou for explaining the differences in hand clippers/ pruners.
I like the tree in your back ground
Thank you for explaining the differences. I am being taught by a master gardener on how to prune instead of pulling out the hedge trimmers that butcher the poor plant. Thank you again.
The latching mechanism on some wears quite quickly and stops functioning. Some also will cease to stop the pruner from spreading so far that the spring will become unhooked and fall to the ground and possibly be lost. I've found it difficult to find one that will last in those two areas.
Nice video!!!….for 2 inch dia branch?
How to sharpen them….? 🙂
Fruit tree pruning how to videos for young trees. Peach, plum, fig, pomegranate, and citrus tree.
I don't know how I pick what I use. My first choice is going to be my newest bypass followed by a ratchet pruner. I don't so much like anvil but I use them when trimming small trees. I have small hands and not that strong so I work with what will do the job with the less effort.
Is that a house built around a tree behind you?
I need help on this, save me a lot of time.
What do you recommend for cutting succulents for indoor use?
Where did you get your raised bed from? That is awesome!
Pruning currants, jostaberry, and gooseberry.
But I doubt in your area you grow them.
Felco 2 for live pruning.
Could I use a sterile straight razor for garden herbs like mint and basil, and cherry tomato plants etc.?
Great video for someone new to gardening like myself.
Skillfully done. Thanks.
I can't believe I've never heard of ratchet pruners!! Exactly what I've been needing lately. Thank you for making this video, super helpful 😀
Great video!! Thank you!!
Do you put something on the living plan stem to avoid bacteria getting in?
