Can you regrow supermarket lettuce? This lettuce was harvested and packaged weeks ago, then sat in the supermarket, and finally in my refrigerator for another couple of days, so can it still put out roots and grow some more? Follow along as I regrow these heads of Romaine lettuce, the results are…..delicious! You can do this for any lettuce, of course organic is best since it hasn’t been treated with anything….Bon Appetite!
If you want better results (quicker and bigger) then use hydroponic solution in the water. The lettuce will regrow with just plain water, but it will grow bigger and faster with a nutrient solution. The one I use is Grow Big from Fox Farms, 3-2-6, formulated for hydroponics. Very easy to mix with water. You can find it on amazon by searching for it, or here is the link:

how much nutrition do you get from plants grown in water>
Only buy lettuce Once? Why not.
wow, I am going to try it!
Why didn't you shave the brown off the bottoms to make it easier for roots to grow? those plants look like they have bolted.
I have an important question…
With only water and sunlight as input, how will it affect the nutrients content of the leaves as compared to the lettuce grown in soil???
Love your videos, getting into hydroponics myself and all of them have been super well made and informative. You also seem like such a nice lady, thank you for your content!
Have you considered adding some fertilizer?
The new leaves look nothing like Romain lettuce !!
I did this and they are all bitter , i think i left them to grow to long
I noticed my romaine lettuce start sprouting new leaves within hours!!
Very cool video. I sent a friend with a very nice backyard garden this video. He loved it. Growing lettuce in Florida just got easy. Thank you.
If you cut the bottom leaves the lettuce keeps regrowing as long as you dont throw away the roots .
Do you ad nutrients to the water initially?
I'm surprised that it was still alive after all the beatings it took.
I am doing this with celery, the center did start to grow so I planted it outside in a pot to see if it continues to grow.
Would a couple of drops of nutrients used in aquaculture aid in their growth? A very informative video….i will give it a try…….Many Thanks from faraway Melbourne, Australia.
Can I use this method for butter head lettuce without roots?
Do you change the water?
Great ..growing at home with not much efforts.
Had a question do we need to replace the water daily ..occasionally in the bottle?
Thanks
Hi! Thanks for the vid just what I was looking for!
This lady makes great videos
My lettuce is browning, like a lot and it’s been 2 weeks and only a tiny spurt of lettuce grew. The other I’ve done (I did 2) is also browning but has little growth. They are not growing from the center though and they have very long roots. What should I do? Is this a fail? I wash them everyday and change the water.
Hey… I got some lettuce delivered from the market and they are bitter in taste so if I try regrowing them like shown in the video, will it still taste bitter? Could you please help me out with this… I really want to try and grow my own lettuce so as to not waste all the money by getting bitter lettuce delivered and also it is kind of expensive here where I live…
Thanks for you hands on videos
Could you at a certain point just cut the whole plant off give it a little more water and let it grow again. How many times could a person do that? Thanks
But if there are no nutrients in the water there wont be any in the leaves
wow
