  1. At the start you mentioned that you hadn't watered those onions and they turned out great. A little later in the video you mentioned the more water (within reason) the larger the onion. I was researching how to water onions and was a little confused by those two statements. Many thanks.

  2. I just built and planted my first garden bed. I still have so much to learn. I picked up some onion sets and just planted them. It's june 1st. I had no idea they took that long to grow.

I have no idea what I'm doing. Please send help lol

  3. Hi proper newb when growing but weve got potatoes and red onions coming up in our planter. I didnt understand when you said mixing straw into the floer beds any help greatly appreciated

  4. I have seen several Verdi’s on growing onion from store bought onion, by cutting the root portion and planting it in soil. Does it really work!can we actually get onion bulb from this?

  5. this year my onions totally disappeared – never had much luck with onions, NOW I need to look what you have to say, so next year…..
BTW your seeds I had ordered 2 years ago all did really well except the mache, got nothing coming up – just like onions 🙂

  6. Nitrogen comes heavy in chicken manure too.. Add coop bedding to your compost. Let it heat up and break down before using. Dont use it hot, to avoid burning your plants. You will find your compost rich in nitrogen 🙂 Happy Planting!

  7. I grow candy onions here in North Carolina zone 7a. Last year I topped my onions and with rain water filling the tube leaves the onions rotted. So this year I didn't top them and they are nice size beautiful onions. I would love to try growing a different kind maybe something that is not a sweet onion that grows big. What type of onion do you recommend for my area?

  8. i don't understand why folks grow onions potatos garlic in small home gardens .. they are so cheap to buy and so much garden real estate is needed to grow em . seems a waste of space when could be growing veggies not found in stores like orach, dragon tongue beans and high yield crops like lettuces tomats cukes stuff like that

  9. Thanks! This helped me alot! I'm growing one onion in a container and its top was about to bend down so, I topped it off. The top of the onion tasted yummy!! I do have nitrogen soil in with my compost and it's doing great. I'm brand new at this. I have started a container garden on my lanai.
