  1. The Philippines salt story is fascinating. I love the PASSION on display here, by ALL the vendors! You can tell these folks are really invested in their product quality and worth. Thanks for sharing.

  2. You've mentioned that you plant pineapple ground cherries but forgot to let us know exactly what kind and from what company. Maybe I've missed it because I only found you about 4 months ago. I've already received my Kajari Melon Seeds for the spring, and convinced my husband that the radishes I planted this month will taste great roasted. I especially look forward to ordering the sweetest ground cherry seeds for my grandchildren. Thanks Jess for awakening my gardening senses that were dormant far too long. Barbara Behringer – South Louisiana

  3. See the young man behind you in expo hall when you are at Hudson Seed..yellow pack his name is Grady. He rode a train out from Colorado to attend Expo. Seeing a young man excited about all this just gives me so much hope for the future.

  4. Oooooo! You can frame those Hudson Seed envelopes!!! Now I really wish I'd stopped there! Did you see San Diego Seed company. Brunette Pena started this company. She's in her 30's!!!! Ambitious and a great teacher at local nursery.

  5. You are so cute sitting down all excited with your seeds in earshot of the bathroom just to get a semi-quiet place to share with us. I love your idea of going to the major seed nerds/lovers to get input so you can geek out and giggle even more over what comes up in your garden year after year. I am hoping once we get my Mom settled in our small home I will finally be able to figure out seed sowing down here a little more. I am all giddy because I sprouted a jackfruit seed and a starfruit seed and you had a big something to do with that too Jess, thank you again for living in a glass house. And I so want a dino egg of salt now.. lol We have people who grow cuban oregano down here it is highly aromatic and almost juicy. It is supposed to have the same medicinal properties as other oregano.

  6. Brad was the second person I met at the Expo that was even more lovely and real in person than I could have imagined from watching your interview at last year's event (Thanks again for your kind and generous chat and prayers). Without knowing it at the time, I bought almost the same seeds and a few flowers too. Hearts for heirlooms and gardening seem to grow qualities that transcend the objects of affection to create inspirational humans.

  7. Stop at time 8:23, my squash plant cannot seem to live without continual passes mildew… At first I was taking the infect leaves off, then I tried speaking with organic whole milk, which actually did help the leave that had powdery mildew, but you need funny how days for that to work, and we didn't get many this summer in Seattle. I'll keep trying. ^_^
