$7 celery up here in middle of winter.. We grow and pick outer stems… It's still growing under plastic and we've had hard frosts already… It will be there in the spring if you leave the crown and it will flower and seed beautiful umbrella flower for butterfly and hover bees
We had a fungl issue but it did not spread and was OK just a bit of rust….

I grow mine as cut and come again in my garden, I need less space and have it all year long.
Its rarely grown, i only got the seed in a bundle but Soup celery or Chinese/leaf celery is a great option for growing and is cut and come again like this. Only issue would be teaching people what it is, less stemmy and great for cooking with.

I have been growing it the last two years and this year the insects really did a number on a large portion of them. First it was the black picnic bugs that would congregate down in the center of the plant chewing on the plant keeping it from growing new stalks and eventually killing the plant and didn't know it was a problem until it was time to harvest. The second was cucumber beetles chewing on the leaves and stalks. And third was slugs. It still is a great crop and around here everyone is so surprised we can grow it here in Iowa since most people are accustomed to having it shipped in from California. We also are able to have the added value of having the leaves on to show freshness and to have more uses.

Hey Curtis! I am curious about blanching the celery? I have to add a barrier around mine to keep it from exposure too light. Are they using a self-blanching variety?
