Johnathan Todd of Todd Ecological leads us in building a living pond restoration system at our main educational farm. We will construct a river cane floating island embedded with plantings whose roots will grow beneath it and help aerate and clean the pond, which is suffering from algae overgrowth and anaerobicity. See all the steps in this process from mixing the planting medium to building the island and finally, setting it afloat on the water to begin its natural biological filtration process to improve the health of the pond and its ecosystem at the farm.

Thanku. Do you have seminars or go to place to learn stuff you’re teaching? Like a course to take?
Water meal everywhere huh???
I listened to the mention of biochar being put into the mix. I had discussed in doing a reed /gravel bed pond filter having a section set aside to dunk in a bag of fresh char to inoculate it every couple of weeks. I was warned that would robably make the water too alkaline and thus should possibly be done only as a ph balancer for water that's too acidic. How much biochar did you use, compared to the pond volume?
