  1. I have an avocado that started having little brown spots, and the leaf is starting to crinkle. I grew it from seed, my first time trying to grow this sort of plant.
I grew in my bedroom until the little gnats coming out of the soil became too much even with Neem Oil. So it sits outside now getting a lot of Florida sun.
I water every other day, basically me waiting for the soil to dry out before watering again.

  2. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I live in Minnesota. Obviously, they wouldn't do well in the cold. But, I am thinking about building a large green house and growing one or two in it. My questions are: 1. Can they thrive in that environment given I make the conditions you gave. 2. How tall do Hass avacodo trees get and how far do the branches spread out? Thank you much.

  3. Please do not be offended. Has rhymes with pass. It does not rhyme with Hoss. Haas rhymes with Hoss. Hass sounds like has.

  4. This is the first year none of my avocados flowered. They all look great, green leaves and all, zone 8b. Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Good info! I must check into the Hass discovery.
You say he couldn't graft, so he planted a seed and wham! behold there is the now 'Hass' avacado. So it was never before? What did he create or invent or discover?

Later you say you can't grow a Hass type from seed. Ok, I'm going to hit the net and do some research.!

  6. Fast growing tree on line is a rip off. I bought a 6' ft avocado tree for $199, it said will fruit in a year, it's been over a year and nothing. I received it in a big box, the tree was around 6' ft, but is was very skinny, the main stem was around 1/2 inch in thickness. Do not buy from them, buy local or home depot.

  7. I am in Perth, Australia, it gets very sunny and bright. Can I grow them at location where it get heaps of sun especially afternoon and evening sun. We get extreme sunny conditions here for few months. Pls advise

  8. I'm growing a Hass tree from fastgrowingtrees. The top half lost all of it's leaves and branches the first week, though the bottom looks healthy. It's been about a month, no new growth. Would you recommend pruning the top half?
