  1. Do you seriously have flowers blooming???? I am so jealous… I'm sitting here looking out at about a foot and a half of snow with another 3 to 6 inches predicted for tomorrow here in central N.Y. I hate winter

  2. Here in Wyoming beneath the Wind River mountains…no wheat…lots of hay but most of it is sprayed with herbicides..Milestone and the like which is persistent through the manure..or just the hay one would use to mulch in the garden..killed my plants 3 times…so ask, ask, ask, and be informed..so pine shavings are good and I gather my green ash leaves chopped through the mower..and bed my chickens.. and yes chickens hate snow..we shovel a path for them every snow fall. Then they come out and sit up on structures in the sun..cause most of the time in WY it is sunny..but cold. 10 below this morning.

  3. Miss Patara, Such a good voice both for speaking and singing…..I still believe there must be a considerable musical background on your homestead….a son who sings solo and plays a mean piano…. DO you all play fairs, reunions, homesteaders meetings? if so I plan to get there….

  4. You are so right Patara about the straw and such. When we have mud, I like to put down wood chips on paths and open areas to keep down mud. In the chicken run and stuff, I top the wood chips with straw. Love using straw and pine shavings for nests for chickens and rabbits, and they love it too. I get wood chips for free from tree services in our area, but also got shavings from wood turners. Avoid saw dust as it messes with animals' lungs.
Also, cracked corn is a great heat producing food for your chickens and such, just don't give it to rabbits as it will kill them. Alfalfa is another heating food for cold winter days.
Thanks for another great video, and y'all take care in the slippery stuff, and the snow too.
