Albuca spiralis is one of the weirdest looking succulent plants you’ll ever see. Leaves that look like green curly fries and a yellow, a vanilla-scented flower, and a thick bulb that all of this weird growth is coming out of, it looks like it was designed by a child in a fever dream! It’s one of the easier plants to care for provided you follow some classic rules of thumb of succulent care: lots of light, and water only when necessary.

I have one of these, and I seem to have two parts to it: I have the curly part that is doing quite well–nice and curly and green. Then behind that, I have a shoot that has nothing on it…it's just a "pole" with the beginnings of spirals at the top, but it has turned about 60% brownish in the last few months. It's in high light (we live in Texas, so light is not a problem). Should I trim back the brown part? Should I water it more? Feed it? It's not root bound. I water about once every week and a half or when the soil feels dry about an inch down. Will you get back to me? Thanks!
Please show us how to propagate this
I transplanted mine looks great, new sizzles, but falling over Do you just let it fall over or prop it up??
What would you do once the stalk has grown and the bloom is complete?? Cut or leave it?
I think it smells like bag balm. Should we not water after it flowers? I kept watering and my leaves are straight now, no curly cues….
Hi! Should the bulb be visible on the top like yours is?
Please let this be a normal field trip… With the frizz… No way!!
Love the Magic school bus reference! My poor frizzle sizzle is not happy & I’m not sure how to fix. It’s under a grow light, I only water occasionally, but it’s got several leaves going fully brown & droopy. Any ideas or tips?!

My plant has very tall leaves not squatty like yours. I have to stake the leaves up or they just fall down. 2nd year blooming though. The leaves are about 1 1/2 foot tall. Do I continue to stake it or just let the leaves fall down?
What is your soil mix for this?
Hi, I'm in need of advice. I got mine as a bulb dry roots and no leaves they died in shipping. I don't know if mine will live because it's roots are dead bulb isn't soft or anything. Will it live?
That is cool
Haha! Of course! TMagicSchoolbus
I just bought one and the soil was quite wet so I knew I didn’t have to water it right away. But within a couple of days I did get those red/brown tips so I repotted it and was so surprised to find that it grows from a bulb! lol… but mine is about to flower too so now I know the reason for those brown tips.
I have two of these and after they flowered, they died. The stalks are still curly but are now brown. Do you know if they will come back?
I bought one for a very sweet online friend and I need to ship it from Oklahoma to Louisiana ……would the plant survive this time of year? It’s Mid-June…..I’ll ship priority for sure….
My Fizzle Sizzle plant is in a 2” pot & starting to get flower buds. What size planting pot should I transplant it to? Thank you
Just found this. It is mid-July. Should I keep on watering at this Point or just let it go dry until October? It is inside under LEDs.
Miss Frizzle 😉
i got a bulb for each of my 4 grand kids. for their first plant to grow themselves. thanks for the tips!
I just got one and I named him "Snoop" lol
I got a baby Frizzle about a month ago, the shoots and roots are definitely growing. When should I expect the shoots to start curling? They're completely straight.
I love this plant , but I need help , I just got to know this plant , so I don't know much about it, my question is when it goes dormant , how do you care for it ? do you bury the bulb in soil and keep it in a dark place without water until winter ? please help , thank you
