  1. Patara, be as an ocean liner, keeping that steady course, ignoring the flag wavers and other nonsense. Homesteaders as yourself have to live one year ahead due to growing seasons and the results. Mocking ends when 'the others, the outsiders' turn up at the edge of your land, carrying begging bowls. Something tells me that you are one of those who will not be part of the 'futures' market which is where it all started, where a land owner went to the bank and got a loan for repairs or next year's seed on future projections.

  2. I have never mocked prepers but I have been negligent by procrastinating and not getting on board. But now we have the unprecedented situation when a virus has been weaponized against the entire population and it has awakened a sense of urgency.

Over these last couple of years I have been working hard on the financial side and trying to figure out a way to do more with the poorly laid out suburban lot I have until I can get a more appropriate property (hopefully in your neck of the woods).

  3. I'm with you lol I'm a Granny that lives by Canadian border. My husband and I have have seen this coming for years. We were both brought up or lived close to Grandparents that lived thru depression. Also we were taught to think and also taught our history. Also my husband is a Vietnam vet so he has more time to see our government at work. We have noticed this starting to come to a head the last 6 years. We have prepared.

  4. My husband is disabled and I am waiting on my disability too (migraines that cause blindness and seizures) We live on a tiny income and use the local food pantry. I still do what I can with what I have. The pantry suppried us with a big bag of apples (I never get 5 pounds at once!) That was a bit soft. The pantry was going to toss them untilbthe volunteer remembered that I look for stuff like this (helps reduce waste) i have apple sauce in the canner and apple butter in the crockpot! Putting up what I can!

  5. I don't care what people think of me…the Lord told me 2 years ago there would be food and water shortages and to prepare….so I started…ive grown my own food but last year I started canning everything…i trust God….i answer to God…i have faith in God…not man..

  6. I am just now seeing this almost 2 years later. But thankfuf I started buying the one or 2 extra dried things like rice or pasta or beans in each trip to the store. Yes, I have a very low SocSec income and I still managed. Over time! If I get a little money at xmas or a birthday, I use it on food. Not hair or nails or trips. And this was BEFORE the pandemic. I am now homebound, but grateful for home delivery. Yes, I have 5 more years of house payments out of that limited income. I pay my bills before anything else. I do not have credit card debt. I paid cash for my car. I do not own a TV. Yes, I have wifi because it is my only contact with friends and family. My phone is 13 years old and the cheapest I could get. It works! I don't care about the latest and greatest. Yes, mt house is quite old and needs some repairs. But it shelter, running water, gas, electric, and sewer.. I am luckier than most people on my income! None of my kids would want a house this old and small, but I can at least leave a food legacy for them when my time comes. I think that matters.
