Little Fact:
Perlite is a volcanic glass that is ejected with force when water trapped inside a cooled lava rock is heated enough to explode. Neat huh?
And never worry about adding it back to worm bin, it is fine enough they can actually utilize it as some of the grit they need. Just don't overdo it as with anything.
And it looks like it's time to change your worm bedding. They could be dwindling because their own poop is very toxic to them when they are left in it for a long time.
