VIDEO: Growing Beets Part 1 Seeding

Growing Beets Is Both Fun And Easy! Beets are a superfood root vegetable that should be in every backyard garden. Harvested for both the taproot and the leaves, Beets are a cool weather crop than can be sown and harvested in 60 days or less.

Grow Beets in transition areas of your garden where you have 2-3 months and you want to level up beyond the traditional quick crop choices of lettuce or carrots. In this video, I show you how I prepare my beds using the no-till method of organic gardening, and how we sow our Beet seeds for maximum harvest in about 2 months.

  1. Don’t forget the huge health benefits of eating beets. Vitamin C, folate, magnesium, fibre, etc. Including lowering blood pressure and increasing athletic endurance.

  2. Great video, I realy like eating beets when there boiled or roasted on the grill, this year i'm not growing those but i think next year i will grow some beets

  4. I had great success or first time success after trying for many years to plant Tomatoes, basil and cucumbers from seed! All germinated from all the tips you gave on your other video's. thanks so much!

  5. I really find your strict no-till very interesting. If I feel I can generate enough compost / mulch on-site at some point I will totally pursue this.
I practice "minimal till", and am aiming to produce most of my needs on-site if I can pull it off. Wood chips, chicken poop, leaf mulch… I'm getting closer each year

  6. Nice! I will try that paper method..good idea!~ I am planting 2 types (Kestrel hybrid & touchstone gold) this season. Last yr was my 1st for planting beets & found out I need to plant them earlier this yr (I'm in zone 3b in northern Ont) and keep them moist. Last yr I tried chioggia(?) candy-cane beets but I think I planted too late and had poor size so hopefully this year I can do it right!

  7. Hi from Australia… currently binging your youtube vids….. lots of really good growing tips. Going to give your capsicums in buckets a go and cant wait to try your growing mix. Cheers
