Grow Your Own Celery Right From A Celery Stalk! In this video, I show you how you can take a bunched stalk of Celery from the grocery store (or your garden) and grow it into a whole new set of Celery stalks! Super easy and lots of fun!

This is a great indoor and safe project to do with kids, and even seasoned gardeners will get a kick out of how the vegetable staple is so resilient! Regrowing vegetable scraps is often an effort that is more novelty than practical. Celery however is actually EASIER to regrow from a cut stalk than it is from seeds. Try it out!

  1. Too bad they don't show the actual result: how tall did it get? What happens to the old 'butt' and can this be done to the new one? etc.

  2. Love this video! I’m a week or so in that mine have been in clean water. Just waiting for the roots so I can then plant it. I’ve come back to this video often as a guide.

  3. Thanks for the clear demo. I would have loved to see it through to harvest. I’ve had mixed results but am compelled to keep trying. My scallions do best. I don’t pull them! I slice them off at the soil level and let them keep growing. It speeds up the process and they multiply.

  4. Followed the instruction but my celery turned black and soggy after transplanting it to the soil. is this transplant shock? Can i leave it longer in water until the roots are way longer? (i transplanted it when it had roots like the video and the the outer layers start to turn dry and brown)

  5. Wow thanks for the great video! I was expecting it to be like 98% of other garden related videos, long and drawn out with a bunch of talking about anything besides the question I’m asking (which is always the name of the title with “how to” in front) and bits and pieces of the actual topic between the rambling. But this was all super to the point, extremely educational and I was even able to write notes because you weren’t rushing thru the vid. I’m just a nobody but I’ve seen a thousand gardening related videos and this is the 2nd I’ve taken the time to comment on due to how great it is. Thanks! I’ll be checking out more of your videos!

  6. Hi! Thanks for the video! I feel so inspired to grow celery now! However, I was wondering if I can grow this plant as a perennial? I live in a location with tropical climate.
    Thanks in advance! 🙂
