Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

Ashamed my parents buried all our animals under and around the bird bath instead of all the gardens we had.
Horse's need protein in their diet just like other mammals however its PLANT based protein 🙂
Any time you are raising birds for eggs, you are going to end up with some bad ones. This is a great way to get rid of the bad ones and help your garden grow better!
In areas that have a lot of clay, I will break down and burry gypsum board to help break down the clay. I also like to burry tree moss when I can.
Different worms go into different places in the garden ? Woot ?
My Green head hurts
I recently lost my favorite dog. He was a large boned chocolate lab. By far the smartest and most kind pet ill ever have. We buried him and planted an imperial rose and peonies above him. I've never seen a rose so big and beautiful. What a nice way to remember my best friend.
8:31 what a great feeling. Drinking your morning coffee and looking out over your flourishing garden. Doesn't get much better than that. Loving your content my brother!
Isn't it amazing the most important things to sustain a healthy life are the smallest living organisms on earth. Like fungi, bees, worms. Amazing.
"…but they do make good bananas" Hahaha
Poor bloody Kangaroo.
That pet cemetery movie really messed me up as a kid when I watched it. Along with old zombie movies and Chucky. Well Chucky was not so bad, I was older when that came out.
So you can spot your neighborhood serial killer by the size of his bananas and tomatoes..
Very useful as always. I have done exact same thing just following my instinct and It is great to hear about Tiger worms(compost worms) and how they can turn the entire raised bed into a living worm farm.
To feed the garden and worms I tend to blend the kitchen waste along with coffee and tea waste and I will turn it into a doughy looking mix. Then I will use a 9 litre watering can to dilute them with water and simply pour them into the garden. I thought this way it would be easier for the worms and plant roots to consume them.
Happy gardening to you all.
Can you mix different methods to fertileze? For example fish head and eggs?
Never ever thought of an egg like this.
Well, blood from a slaughterhouse can be a good fertilizer, also.
Ad wood ash to the compost. I mix it with leaves yard waste and kitchen scraps.
Hey, I adore your videos! Where do you get your big metal barrell raised bed thingys from please?
1 – Animals…
Now you've got my attention
get rid of coffee pods, not sustainable.
Hello I'm enjoying watching your garden
