  1. The fire of inspiration has been set. I am so grateful to have found this channel. I've been learning and enjoying sooo much. I'm not sure which one, but it was a video speaking to beginners and it made me cry. To hear you say just do it, and have fun made me not overthink it or get overwhelmed. And I finally at 35, have found my passion, my calm. I belong ♥.

  2. No joke sweetheart, What would our world be like if people valued their food? You made me cry with that statement. I am doing my best to raise all I can raise to do just that. I can no longer garden in my original raised beds because the bindweed and the bermuda took over the great dirt I had in them! So now I have built enclosed raised beds, like yours, but with corrugated tin sheets on the bottom also, and huge tarps from a sign company under them. Thank you Jess and Mike Dickson for the ideas. Loving the homesteading life! In Wichita, Kansas, go Gardeners, I mean Grow Gardeners, Grow!

  3. Jess, you are a complete delight and a total treasure to viewers, your family and your garden. When you do get to writing that book within covers (I hope you're keeping a box with notes for that; or a journal, or however that works for you…) I think you'll be elaborating on your ten-years-story (Maybe "Just Start Growing" will be your first book) peppered with tidbits about how a stump with resurrection ferns will stand in for a chair in a pinch, because the ferns have rejuvenated after a couple of days rain in unusual cool Arkansas spring, will serve you well. I'm going to have to check out the articles you write — maybe you're already telling stories with these lovely little embellishments there. Thanks for all you do.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing your life with all of us. the world that we are living in right now is so chaotic and scary at times but watching your videos every morning gives me so much hope and inspiration that things are going to get better and that we all are going to keep growing. I think that I share the same dream that you have and seeing you make your dream come true makes me believe in myself and it shows me that I am capable of living my dream one day too. I am just so thankful for every bit of wisdom you have shared with the world. you’re an amazing person with an amazing heart and thank you for giving the world a bit of light and hope when so many of us feel stuck in the dark.

  5. 3 inches of rain! Amazing! We are so dry! I planted two more tomatoes last evening and I have a few more that are not big enough to put out.
    Thank for your energy!

  6. I cant even say how many times your videos have brought tears to my eyes. I remember when it was a dream for me too. and Honestly it still kind of is because we are still looking for property that has some acres at least and that we can actually call ours. So it still feels so far away, but we are always striving and pushing to get there!!! I love your insight, and i hope our paths cross later in our journeys!!

  7. You are such a beautiful soul. I love watching you and seeing your passion and drive. You give me hope that there is still substance and love in what sometimes seems to be a very dry world. Thank you for sharing your garden and yourself.

  8. Hi J & J. So happy that a friend pointed me to your page. You are a wealth of gardening information and I personally thank you. My husband, Rick, and I are fourth, soon to be fifth, year beekeepers in far north Texas and would love to talk bees with y'all anytime. You can check us out on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/chiggerhillfarmsapiary/ or Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/chiggerhillfarmsapiary/. Rick, is the beekeeper and since I am allergic to bee stings, I am responsible for the business and the products of the hive. Rick mentors with many beekeeping families and enjoys discussing anything bees. So, please don't hesitate to reach out to us anytime! And again, thank you for sharing your knowledge and for your kind and giving heart.

  9. I watched a video previously where you mentioned your sittin' stumps. I decided I needed some for my garden. My husband got on board when he realised they could be called beer stumps. We now spend more time in the garden than we ever have. Now I know the whole story…❤

  10. Wish your hubby would do a video as I am studying which way to go. The horizontal hives and flow hives. Right now the mason bees are great to pollinate but no honey. They don’t really sting like the others.
