VIDEO: Fertilizing Summer Vegetable Gardens Organically

Lately I have had a lot of people asking me what I use to fertilize my garden, and while I’m always happy to share that information, I also want people to understand why and how I use this organic fertilizer, and also learn how to find the best fertilizer for your garden.

This video is not sponsored, but I do love thus fertilizer so here is a link to where you might be able to find it:

  1. Thanks for such a great and informative video, some of the best I've seen. In the beginning if the video you mention a 5-5-5 fertilizer but I did not see an explanation of when you use it. It seemed that you primarily use the 4-5-3. So curious to know what the recommendation of the 5-5-5 is.

  2. I mixed a 5 gal bucket with liquid fertilizer to apply the following day. This bucket also acted as a weight to hold one corner of plastic covering down/ ( raised garden.) Each corner had a 5 gal bucket. The only bucket with Ice the next day was the one with fertilizer. The 3 with only water did not freeze. May be best to hold off using fertilizer until threat of frost has passed.

  3. Hello! Came across your videos! Very helpful! It's my first year gardening,I wanted to ask if you have dealt with shore flys in your garden and how to treat them? I'm in South California zone 10b. Thanks!

  4. Amazing garden. What do you do with all those tomatoes? Do you all can them? Sell them? or give them to friends and family. I can't imagine having that great of a crop! Thanks for sharing your gardening skills with us.

  5. Does EB Stone have the OMRI label? They can call it organic and only have a teaspoon of organic mixture and call it organic if it doesn't have the OMRI label on it.

  6. How are you handling pests and bugs on vegetable plants? Please make a video on your pest and bug maintenance, especially on tomatoes, peppers etc…Thanks!

  7. I really needed a local perspective on crops considering the heat waves we’ve been having. You should definitely grow Malabar spinach! Just sharing some of what I’ve collected. It’s heat tolerant and vines beautifully.

  8. My soil is sandy. That said I bring in compost. This year was my first time growing in West Texas zone 8a. I did pretty well. I need to amend my soil and add more compost. I don't like bringing in compost or buying amendments. I started making my own compost. How do I amend my soil without outsourcing?

  9. I've done everything wrong fertilizer wise for my tomatoes. I just checked my liquid fertilizer's "NPK" and the nitrogen is 14, phosphorus 4, and potassium 8. I probably won't get any tomatoes this year. I appreciate the info so I won't be ignorant next year about NPK for productive summer tomatoes.

  10. Thank you so much for putting this video out. You made it so easy to understand fertilizing my plant. My tomato’s are huge and beautiful but barely any tomatoes. Heading to the nursery to get what I need. I have been using that fertilizer from Miracle grow, that attaches to your hose. It works great…… for growing leaves but not fruits and vegetables! Apparently it is high in nitrogen!

  11. Those are great looking tomatillos. The beat thing about growing your own is they are just better, more meat, more sweet, and more healthy. Once you go homegrown you can’t go back.

  12. what if i have (organic) bark mulch covering the soil (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries)? how do i mix it in the soil or do i even need to mix it in? will the nutrients be absorbed in to the bark or will they slip down in to the soil when watered??
