Very good video, I think this sums up the basic idea of how your taking care of your garden fields. This video game me an idea. One could have different growing plots and rotate their crops each year with a cover crop. So me for an example I would have one plot each of veggies, sunflowers and pumpkins. I would use the sunflowers and maybe alfalfa as cover crops. I would rotate those each year to a different plot to mend the soil. So I would have 4 plots total. Of corse these don’t have to be as big as your plots. I have a question though, if I were using alfalfa would that be invasive when I go to use that plot for veggies the next year?
Beautiful sunflowers, great soil benefit and thank you for sharing.
Nice job mark
Thanks mark for aneat video am envious of your latest acquisition, keep up your good work noel nz.
Another great video Mark. I appreciate that you are showing yourself in the video. I think that makes it more personable.
There is something about sunflowers. They seem to bring happiness and cheer.
I always learn so much from you, Mark. Thanks, Teach!
Love Sunflowers in a field! I let mine reseed themselves, all our pollenators seem to love them too. Thankyou Mark! Your sunflowers will bring smiles!
Excellent info. Waiting for series on soil building in planters. That’s all I have these day any way.
This year I have although planted some sunflowers. They are so gorgeous and attracting so many pollinators.
Have you read any of Charles Walters Jr’s work? Your thought processes and explanations remind me of him!
Is this not somewhat contradictory to your previous Back To Eden messages? I know you mention mulching in this video, but still sounds like you're saying this is a better option than wood chips?
Beautiful! On top and below. The exudates are a feast for the microbes ❤ Nutrient cycling
Great information in an easy to understand format. 58 degrees would be a warm night for us. I covet the warm nights you have in NJ.
Should I keep the roots of the sunflowers as well as the other crops in the soil? Tomatoes, butternut squash, melon?
What you going grow when you cut them down
Thanks Mark, beautiful fields
I LOVE SUNFLOWERS!
I am using daikon radishes as winter cover crop. Any idea on how these work?
How did you sow the sunflower seeds?
Thank you for yet another video. I've been following your channel and learning from you for years now and I have to thank you so much for the learning experience and for giving me the confidence to develop my green thumb for me personal gardening and for my future small farming venture. Thank you, be well, stay safe and keep moving forward brother. Peace.
I have a question. I'm in Zone 7B, Cary, NC. Today is November 13th and we haven't had a serious freeze as yet. Is there still time for me to start a cover crop of winter rye?
So in the late fall, or early winter, it's best to plant some type of cover crop I guess, mainly to make your soil more healthy for your garden next year, thank you.
Thank you.
Mark you are an awesome gardener, I'm doing back to eden and learn so much from you! Thank you for all the videos, God bless!
Thanks Mark, another wonderfully educational vid. Cheers mate!!
I love sunflowers too, but I've read that the seeds are allelopathic, and the roots are pretty dense, maybe preventing later roots to spread, so I wonder about planting veggies at the tail end of these. What is your answer to that?
Which do you like better. The Radishes, or the Sunflowers to build soil
Want the sunflowers come back from seed next growing season?
I’m building my raised beds. Planting trees in the boxes and beds to put roots into the soil. As they get too big or too dense; I’ll terminate some. I would love to hear your thoughts on the trees.
