VIDEO: Growing a Fall & Winter Garden – How/What to Plant

If you’re fortunate to live in an area with mild enough fall or winter weather you should absolutely take advantage of this cool weather growing season! In this video I’ll give you a quick tour of my garden as it is goin into fall then I’ll show you exactly how I turn over my garden beds from the end on summer crops to fresh healthy soil that’s ready to plant. Then I’ll show you my indoor grow rack and the fall and winter veggies I’m growing, as well as a few other ideas for what you might want to plant this fall. Then I’ll show you exactly how I plant my fall vegetable crops.

This video is not sponsored, but I do love these fertilizers and soil amendments so here is a link to where you might be able to find it:

  1. It’s very interesting watching your ideas for tropical weather here. I love making my own micro organisms water from leftover vegetables and plants.

  2. Hi, this is not a criticism, but I noticed that you use a lot of fertilizer and feed in your garden activities. I am a beginner at this and I have recently gained access to some land I would like to try your methods on. The area is a bit larger than this garden ( roughly twice the size). I am worried about the expenses of using so many soil amendments. My question is whether it's even worth it to grow veggies and other stuff given the amount of 'expenses' that go into the soil. Do you find these expenses manageable?

  3. wow your so awesome, great advice! i wish i found out about your videos sooner. my garden would be much better then it is now. i have so much weeds i hate it but now that i have seen your video i cant wait for my summer crop to fully grown and harvest them all and restart my garden. do you have video on how you removed the vines from your cattle trellis?

  4. Just new to your channel and you may not see this message as it is an older video (I live in Southern Australia so it is the right season for me)
We had a horror season with fires 19/20 so I have gratitude and admiration for the job you and all firefighters do.

  5. I'm so glad I found you this week! I've been binge watching, and find your videos clear, concise, and very educational. You are now at the top of my go to list for gardening videos!

  6. Hello buddy!
You have done amazing work and I follow you watching your videos.

Can you please create a video on how we can effectively protect an Urban vegetable garden here in Canada, from Raccoons, squirrels etc.?

  7. Another Sacramento person, excellent. Good video. I'm in Sacramento, also, but I'm in an apartment that is situated so that I don't get enough sunlight to grow anything :(. I soooooo wish I had a yard to grow my own food. Especially, berries. I want to have a small baking business and berries make great pie filling that can be used for a lot of goodies. And thank you for being a firefighter!

  8. Kyle, thank you so much for dedicating yourself to trying to keep California safe. It is a scary prospect these days. I am so delighted to find a gardener in the same zone! I also have sedge, the scourge of the plant world. My set up is almost identical to yours in terms of beds, irrigation and paths. How are you managing the sedge? It’s a constant battle. Any tips would appreciated! Best!
