You probably already thought about this but….would you be able to meet the wood chip truck closer in town with a truck bed and trailer to have them fill up? Might have to do this a few times but that might help towards your lack of wood chips issue?

If you will prune the bottom leaves off your brussels sprouts they will grow better! Break off the bottom four or five sets of leaves up the stock. Garden looks beautiful!!!
Love wood chips :). We got about 5 truck loads free from the DPW. They were cutting trees down to keep from the power lines. So maybe…? They dropped for free because they were in the area. I got out and chatted with them. They seemed pretty happy to unload so close instead of going back to their area.
I have seen someone recently put that green outside carpet stuff in their nest boxes….He said that it was free because he asked for the leftovers they had at the hardware….pretty cool idea, I thought.
Where do y’all live? I live in Florida and it’s still in the 80s most days here. Although I wouldn’t mind some fall temperatures.

Here in zone 2-3 i take my potatoes out of the ground when i see we are getting a frost it sets the sugar

Hey Jess, after a potato plant blooms it produces a small green berry. It has actual seeds like tomatoes. You can ferment them just like tomatoes and save those for next year. They will all produce new varieties of potatoes. They do not grow true from seed. You will get new varieties. It is an exciting experience for you!
Lettuce plants produce a mild form of opium. That milky white sap that runs out when they are bolting is the cause of the bitter taste. This is why you should never feed lettuce to your rabbits as once they start they won't eat anything else.
