I take it Bin Chickens aren't tasty.
If the BC's (bin chickens/black crows) get wise to the new gate, maybe try this: Add 1/2×1/2 grid wire in a little entry tunnel. @30" x similar size of door (14"?) tie it in above the door and bow it back about 18" and stake it down. From the outside with bird vision, it will look like the fence. (I'd imagine that it is rigid enough not to collapse if someone hops on top of it.) I had a problem with scrub jays eating chicken eggs. They are nearly as smart as crows and able to go anywhere the hen can to get to the eggs. What I had to do was gather eggs quickly and leave ceramic eggs in the nest. They quickly figured out that the eggs wouldn't break and stopped being a problem. Unfortunately, they are very good with color and figured out that all brown eggs crack and they would eat the brown egg in a nest and leave the green one alone. So, I had to get brown ceramic eggs too, to completely fix the issue.
I have made a trade off with the crows, I tolerate them because they harass the eagles and hawks. I will give a few eggs to prevent loss of a chicken.

and those bin chooks could be giving your chickens diseases and lice…..good to see them go.
Crows are very smart animal they'll figure out watching the chickens go in and out.
We were discussing the old bin chicken at work yesterday. One guy wanted to know what they tasted like, noone has the balls to try catching, cooking and eating one though.
Mark it may be a good idea to draw some eyes on the door to scare the crows away.
Looks like a good idea for the large" bin chicken " … I think you are so right about the horizontal sliding door . They would bring debri across it on their feet and bog it up for sure. Always enjoy your inspiring attitude : }
Hi Mark, I've watched a lot of your videos on your vegetable garden. However; I haven't seen any Swiss chard growing (much more tastier than spinach). try yourself some. I pick and wash mine, chop it into large pieces with a tablespoon Butter or bacon drippings a teaspoon of sugar, tablespoon water, and three green onions diced, cook on medium heat it will make its own liquid so you only need enough water to get it started. Once its cooked down with all liquid cooked out beat about 4 eggs (depending on how much chard you have) pour eggs into the chard, cook till eggs are done. serve with a tortilla heated to personal preferance. May serve with diced tomatoes, sour cream and grated cheese of your choice. Give it a try you may like it. I like the Bright Lights Chard. Jessie USA
