I have a question for you, I recently purchased some buried treasure strawberry seeds I want to start them they recommended putting them in the freezer for a month pulling them out and planting them inside. Would it work as well just to plant them outside now when it’s cold and snowy and allow them to pop up in spring? I live in Northern Indiana 10 minutes from the Michigan border!

Hey Luke, do you have any videos about planting Spring bulbs in pots? When I was doing this in the Fall, I saw conflicting reports about watering them and not watering them….. Just wondering what your thoughts are?
I have some bulbs I planted outside as well, but being a little north of you in Canada, I wanted some Spring bulbs I could bring indoors and give to family…..
Hi Luke I live in extreme no. calif. Many Italians moved here in the 20's and 30's. There is one fig that thrives here in the cold moist Pacific Northwest and if I believe hearsay it's called the American Fig. The old timers would ask their Italian neighbors who already had a thriving tree if they could get a cutting. An interesting fact is that in order for pollination the fig needs the "fig wasp" which has a symbiotic relationship with this so called American fig. Does anyone around you have a LARGE fig tree that produces figs? If so, maybe you could ask them for a cutting and just maybe the fig would do better for you and then you would know that you will get the highly specialized wasp needed for that strain of fig. Take care.
My first thought seeing this was "Trying to grow figs in MI??? are you crazy?" I live in eastern PA, zone 7 and figs are a challenge down here. At one time trying to grow then north of Philadelphia was a major challenge to over winter them.I t is clear that there is definitely climate change happening. Besides less colder winters with much less since, it is easier to grow figs here. I saw one gentleman grow his in big pots on a dolly that he rolls into his garage like you are doing. Other wrap theirs and fill the insides with leaves to provide insulation and as a wind buffer. I hope you are successful.
Watching the video lowered my stress at least 99% thank you as always. Now when I get to my garden today it will lower another 100%.
My Dad use to bury his fig tree. Every year he would wrap it up, dig up the root ball, bend it over and then cover it in dirt. Perhaps it was over kill, but he had a nice tree.
Luke, I completely my figs in the winter and they do much better.
I just bought a Chicago cold hardy fig that will ship this spring. I live in Utah near Utah Lake. I’m kinda on the edge of zone 6b and zone 7a. Really depends on the year. I’m hoping it’s just warm enough here to allow the fig to thrive, but I’ve been really going back and forth on whether or not I should plant it in the ground or plant it in a container. Thoughts?

Im over here in Florida at 63° with my scarf, jacket and thick socks thinking 41° would be hibernation for me lol
Just a thought… couldn't you put it in a bigger pot, then use a dolly to move it?

Oh hey……I have a fig tree. I got three figs this year!
Had a fig tree for years. You're supposed to cover it in the winter (I used burlap with leaves and bales of hay/straw that people would buy for halloween – I'd grab them from neighbours afterwards when they wanted to toss them). Worked great. Uncover slowly in spring when deep cold over and you could see new leaves starting already. Tons of figs.
