I think it might be vermiculite, it holds water.
When I made of soil for out square foot garden in the
RB house I used it in the mix.

There are at MY house! I don’t know if they survived the ICE…. Time will tell! They are still green anyway.
Ha ha, I can relate to starting seedlings in the kitchen. I just make a big mess and then sweep it all up. I can also relate to planting lots of seeds and then not wanting to waste them. Such a good idea to sell the extras because if this spring is anything like last year gardeners might have a hard time finding plants!
Leave one cell open at a corner so you can pour water in it and bottom water without trying to lift your cells. Good job with finding a space to keep the pepper seed warm to germinate.

Every time you use a bell pepper or jalapeño pepper you can just use the seeds that you had from your vegetables and grow them in the garden I’ve tried it and it works. And it’s free
