Do you have any insights into the 3 sisters form of planting??? Going to try for the first time this year…being in Maine it is a challenge on when!!
What seed starting mix do you use, or, do you make our own? Looks like there's Coco Coir, vermiculite, perlite and something else.
This is one beautiful man.
What kind of seed starting mix!?
This is my 2nd year to attempt gardening and my 1st year to use a seed starting mix instead of peat pellets. I had the water problem because I didn't know to pre-moisten. So I put the soil in the pods, gave it a light press, but I did think it would be best to water it before I put the seeds in. So I started slowly adding water to the cells and the water just pooled up on top of the soil. When it finally started soaking through, it basically just ran down the edges of the cells not absorbing in to the soil and just collecting in the catch tray. It's not easy to pre-moisten the soil once it's in those little pods, so next time I'll get me a separate container to mix a lot of soil at once like you have here in this video.
Keep an eye on the zinnias for WPM. I'm not sure if they are susceptible to it per say, but last year my zinnias were covered in it
Good advice, Thank you
I just keep a list of what I plant in each row.
I have 2 seeds that have germinated…out of 72…do I take the seed dome on for a bit longer until more germinate ?
Where do you buy your seed trays?
How deep is too deep to start a tomato seed?
Starting seeds for the first time. I've been using a spray bottle to water pepper, melon, tomato, cucumber, and tomatillo seedlings. So far I've not had issues, but I'm going to switch to watering from beneath.
I am turning the heat off
Wonderful video dispelling so many myths and how thoughtful to post it early in the season so we can still correct our mistakes!
I can't get my seeds to germinate. I think I'm overwatering. I have ordered a seed starting stray that waters from below. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue.
If you did over water and plants are falling over, will they recover, if I leave them alone or should I start new seedlings ?
Wish I knew how many seeds to put in a hole to start growing?
Ok, I’ve made all those mistakes & at the same time ,so I’m thankful for this video for sure!
try adding a dab of alcohol to wake up that marker
Second year of growing and I’m surprised and happy my garden is doing good because I forgot to tend to the soil which I recommend. Before you even think about plants deal with the soil because I made the mistake of being so excited to grow vegetables that I forgot about my soil but then added things on top to help. So before you buy or start planting seeds, focus on your soil. It makes the difference
Just started my seeds indoors today, is spraying the tops with water from a spray bottle a good idea? Also should I have my grow light on already or after they sprout?
I have a temperature controller for my heat mats.
I can't get my seedlings to get anything other than the first leaves. They get taller and taller, then the stems wither and they fall over. I suspect not enough light? I don't have a south facing window that is cat-proof and the only place to set up a grow light is in a garage (brrrr) or a spare bedroom that faces north.
I've seen on ur other videos about using heat mats for broccoli, lettuce etc where u did use the heat. This is a bit confusing to new gardeners. I'm a a very seasoned gardener and I do use heat mats but I have a thermostat on mine
Nothing I grow ends up being big, dam it I better go home then, wait a minute I am already home watching this, HA! thanks MI.
Thank you
