Very useful tip with aspirin. Will definitively try this year as tomato blight hit our allotments last year. Growing burlesque, outside so fingers crossed!

Great video! One other thing to note with regard to blossom end rot is although a shortage of calcium is the reason it happens, the real culprit is the pH of the soil. If the pH is not correct you can add all the calcium in the world and the plant won’t be able to take it up. Always a great idea to get a soil test done before planting
usually viri and bacteria are evolved to target specific types of organism. Sterilizing the eggs shells may not be necessary but its always good to be safe
You can also extract salicylic acid from willow or meadowsweet if you don't want to waste aspirins.

Great information as always Ben! I'm growing 2 varieties this year minibel and tiny Tim I have 3 minibel plants in my raised beds in the garden and the others in the polytunnel my 3 plants in the garden are looking fantastic full of flowers big and bushy but I don't seem to be getting any fruit? They're in a sunny spot and seem very healthy is there any reason for the lack of fruit? They have been netted until recently due to lots of pests this year the netting is now only around the base of the planter as I have carrots and onions the other end and don't want flies.

Good video! You said to spray the aspirin solution just before the flowers set. Does this mean you shouldn't spray after there are tomatoes on the plants? I have flowers and tomatoes, and just bought the aspirin, should I wait til next year or spray now (on the tomatoes too?) Tip from the University of Illinois Ag department: let suckers develop 2 leaves, and snip off there, that will prevent it from growing further, and also prevents more suckers from growing there.

Ben, I subscribed today, after watching several of your videos, I am impressed by the quality. No need to beg for people to like your videos when you do a great job producing them. I love tomatoes, but it is hard to grow them here in Hawaii.
The aspirin tip looks amazing and will try just before the growing season next year. Can I use it on other plants too? My honeysuckles and plum tree all got powdery mildew. Tried every natural remedy without much success.
We always have ours split in the autumn! I think the sudden and prolonged rain makes them swell tok much

We'll all be starting to sow tomatoes again in a couple of months, so a good time to comment perhaps.
I live on the coast and I gather washed up seaweed on the beach for my allotment in general and put it on as a winter mulch. It doesn't need composting and you don't need to wash it! It's brilliant, but returning to the tomatoes, I usually dig some seaweed into the bottom of the tomato planting hole and they do really well with it. The brown seaweeds break down more slowly than the greens and reds so the release of nutrients is a gradual process. If you're not near the coast, another good tip is to put a banana that's going over at the bottom of the hole. This also seems to work well.
Varieties: before Brexit I bought lots of varieties from a wonderful Polish site called Tomato Eden. They had unusual varieties like Brad's Atomic Grape and Bosque Blue Bumblebee that I'd not seen before in the UK. I'm trying to keep them going for myself as they're rather wonderful.
I think my all time favourite tomato is Striped Roman. Beautiful, delicious and available in the UK.

Hi Ben, Enjoy your videos. I grow some Tom's in small grow bags, but I cut grow bag in half, stand on end make holes in the then bottom for drainage. I then plant the tom plant beep in the compost. You can retrieve some of the compost from the bag and use later to top up the bag as the plant gets bigger.
Gardening in New Zealand in a large garden, unfortunately my biggest pest are the English birds, sparrows, blackbirds and Thrushes. They either eat my soft fruits, greens (lettuce, brassicas, all beets which all have to be netted either the whole growth season or for 8 weeks plus)and spread the compost everywhere. Due to this have to harvest the tomatoes as soon as colour appears.
I watch a ton of gardening videos on YouTube. I discovered your channel about a month ago, and you have quickly become my favorite.
