  1. A faster and easier way to start currant bushes is to pull a branch down to the ground and put a rock on it. Have the rock several inches from the end of the branch. In a couple of months the branch will have started rooting so clip it off the main bush and move it to the desired location. I do that after the fruit is harvested if I want another plant. Or do it right into a pot if you plan on giving it away.

  2. I found a blackcurrant bush growing in my compost heap after some pruning, potted it up and gave it to a friend. I found most of the prunings had started to root.
