I’m thrilled with how well these slips are going!! I’m planning on planting them out three ways: Ruth stout/no till (with leaves), directly into straw nails, and raised beds! Stay tuned to see how it turns out.

This is really cool! Do you know the name of the variety that seems to be growing the most slips or is Walmart not that specific with their labeling?
Interesting thanks for sharing never grown sweet potato
I'm glad you showed that , I got all my slips started ,they love hot weather , so they will be good,by my planting,,I do want to put some just in soil, deep South homestead sells a manual on sweet potatoes and one on English peas, they are wonderful.. we only got 48 last time and this time I want to double our planting so I have plenty to can and freeze dry.. our goal is to get a high tunnel and we will just start everything out there and being in Florida it a little easier…Happy Gardening and preparing!!! Good Video… I would like to try the straw and Ruth Stout method
You will get better yields if you only do 32 slips in that size of space
We threw 4 slips from a grocery store sweet in the bed once… got a great harvest, they filled and overflowed the 4×8 bed. We let a few of that harvest grow slips and replanted… 44 pounds in the same bed from 7-8 slips. They vine like crazy. I hear the leaves are tasty, but have never tried.
Wouldnt it be easier to break the potato into chunks and plant those chunks so that the potato can be used to feed the yet to grown new yeild of potatoes or does this way give you unlimited i dont understand this way of growing out a sprig then breaking it off from its food source and roots to try n get it too reroot
What kind of fertilizer did you use for these slips?
