  1. Y'all are so funny and inspiring. I literally lol'd during this video. I relate to your content so much; I've been watching your videos for a year now and I keep coming back! I actually live in a nearby Arkansas town, hoping to have my own homestead within 10 years. I'm the gardener and my husband is the maker. Sharing your journey motivates me to keep going with what I truly and deeply enjoy and feel at peace with. Loved the message today, too: don't be afraid to quit.

  2. Isn't it funny how God works sometimes?! Like putting little nuggets in your life to confirm or correct you, in this instance it's a confirmation. Hearing Miah's advice was something I didn't know I needed to hear, until I heard it. "It's okay to quit something… sometimes quitting is the healthiest thing you can do."

This is so profound! I'm currently in a transition period right now. I'm waiting to hear if I get a job working in a large ministry and I sincerely hope I get it. Without getting into too much of the details – but taking this offer also means leaving the company I've been at for the last 6+ years, the place I interned at and learned everything I know. I love every single person I work with and have made great friends! When they hired me on full time, I told them that they can't turn back now, they're stuck with me until I retire! I honestly thought this is where I'd stay until retirement… until about a year ago, I began feeling like maybe it's time for me to move on and in January the process of moving on began and admittedly it's been bittersweet. I kept thinking that maybe I could work part-time at my current employer or be contracted part-time through them, if they'd allow that… but that wouldn't be me leaving to focus on my new position in this ministry. That'd also be me relying on my own, trying to control the situation and not stepping out in complete faith and relying on God to lead me.

Miah, your advice was the confirmation and word I needed to hear. I have complete peace now that I'm making the right decision. Thank you Miah and thank You Lord for speaking through him!!

Also , thank you Jess for this impromptu interview! 🙂

  3. Great advise Miah, “It’s ok to quit.” I feel much better now about two of my career choices that I hated and quit. I would add to your advice, “you’re never too old,” in reference to myself desiring to homestead at 67 years young with a young 77 year old husband cheering me on in our little half acre plot of heaven!

  4. The very best thing I see on this video is that you to love each other and make each other very happy! Nothing can replace it. I'm getting some age on me but my wife is one unbelievable hard-working woman who wants to always get things done. I think as long as you work together as a couple and are on the same page nothing can stop you from your end goal. I think that you two are unstoppable and I'm looking forward to future videos proving that. Maybe we should see some videos of you two arguing, just kidding. I know from experience, since I'm 60 almost 8 years old that absolutely happens but it's so beautiful to see it all come together. God bless you two And thank you for the videos and keep on loving each other because that's the only thing that will make it all happen!

  5. You need to kiss him girl! I had to throw away about 30 plants, tomatoes, that were doing excellent but were way too early and would never have done any good and it broke my heart throw away these babies. But tomorrow's a new day and we will get some more going and hopefully the timing will be so much better.Give that man a kiss young lady he leaned in but you backed off and that's just not right. LOL!

  6. Jess, you can't do what you want to. This is a man who loves you obviously so very much as we all can see and be a witness of. Thank you all for making my day!

  7. Wow, didn't know you were moving. You've put so much into your farm. I was shocked. In my mind I'm thinking you will be starting all over.. will you be? Your not getting any younger like the rest of us. I say when you know it's time, then go for it. Best wishes always ❤

  8. We are doing the same thing. 2 years in building on raw land. One piece of advice if you are building a house in a hot climate. Situate your house with the front of your house facing north or south. The sun comes up over the top of our house and never directly in the windows. We get good light in the windows but it’s easier to cool.

  9. His advice at the end gave me goosebumps! Thank you! I needed to hear this… we are in a major transition with no light right now where we are going. You inspire me so much and I came wait to build from scratch along with you!

  10. Always love R&R, no matter where yall go. I feel like ive watched every video for years now, but somehow missed the importance/story of why North Carolina??
