Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
#gardening #garden
I love it so much all your video. Thanks for the lesson.
Heyo Mark! I've been watching for quite some time and I love how you add humor into your videos to keep us interested and make it all fun for everyone (kinda like Mr. Irwin did for me as a child). You're my gardening hero and I hope that I can teach people to love gardening like you do. Keep up the great work! Could you please link me to the seed sowing book you use? I can never seem to get my seed timing right and my garden has suffered for it.
Thank you!
You use so many products that people would love to buy. Do a deal with the companies you use. Here are some examples: Sink, hose, long hand nozzle…
Me too love him watch him all time learn a much ❤️
Thanks for this!! I’ve failed at growing from seeds so many times but I’m inspired to give it another go now with your tips!
The king! Big thanks from Sydney
Hi Mark, what is the book called at 2:10 with the sowing guide? Cheers, Andy

MURDER THEM LOL that killed me
Hi mate I love your channel. I want to share my experience. I live in the Philippines, temp 30C (86F) all year round, so this might be irrelevant to many of your viewers, but here goes. I was SOOO disheartened that my seeds never came up; I planted them in coco-peat and perlite, with a spot of vermicompost and left them under the bathroom sink, fairly shaded. Nothing came up at all. Ever. Yet most of my seeds direct in the ground germinated. Last week I said to my wife that I was going to plant the seeds then just leave them outside in starter pots. Within 24 hours I had 95% plus germination of radishes and carrots. I think that direct sunlight is ok for germination – it sure surprised me,
Great job!
Yes dosent he know a lot he's amazing for sure Tammy from Australia
I've just subscribed. I've been up most of the night watching backlog and trying to get up to speed. Haven't done much gardening in the past, rectifying that now. Bunnings love me.
So funny re murdering unwanted seedlings.
Hello Mark! Rogers Arkansas, USA here. Zone 7b. I've been watching and following your channel for years. I love learning from you. How much time would you add into a growing season by using a greenhouse?
Nice that there is no background music.
I have learnt so much from this man and his videos
Yes abc gardening show not as good practical as this guy. Keep up the green thumbs everyone.
Hey mate! Thanks for all the tips. Are there a certain amount of 'real' leaves to look out for, before transplanting?
I'm interested in starting my own self sufficient farm plus be able to make some money on the side, I like gardening, I can spend all day outside with plants and I fully enjoy myself but I don't know where to start with planning, layouts, organic soil, soil plant relationship. Should I look at studying a full 3 year course, do some smaller online courses, buy some books? How do I break into the organic farming industry with no experience?
legend thank you!
Mark's like the Steve Irwin of backyard gardening.
