  1. My message is to the Ball company, we’ve trusted you forever with your product, and purchased at will and need, so please get the lids back out here for your consumers. Especially at this time. I can’t really believe there is a shortage of these. And please make them like you used to. We’ll surely thank you for it. Love you, Tennessee girl, Patara!

  2. Wow…what a great video!!! Thank you for this information. God bless you!!! In our local stores, there has been pallets and pallets of canning jars and lids in the last few weeks or so. So I've been grabbing 5 or more cases everytime I go to the store. I don't know if it's the same case in your area!!!

  3. I’ve been helping my sister-in-law look for canning lids that are reasonably priced. Fair prices don’t exist. I found som regular size Ball lids at the Walmart near me and they are almost $9.00 per dozen!

  4. Amen, sister. Not just the time, money spent putting up products…. We depend on the jam, salsa, pasta sauce, etc to be safe and available when needed. I've been blessed to not have any failures in my seals, but would definitely cry ugly tears to find 5-8 jars unsealed weeks later. Some things you just can't go cheap on. Jar lids at the top of that list. Blessings to you & yours.

  5. Since you brought up the canning lids Patara I've had an experience with lids that I bought that were not Ball or Kerr that were at walmart with no names on them, used them 2yrs. ago before the shortage ever came up…. Much to my dismay the white coating on the inside of the lid that would be sealed in the jar when opening up had started to deteriorate on several that I opened and I had to throw out my beautiful food that I raised and labored over the whole seasons to have and to depend on. YES be aware of the quality and where it's coming from. Thank you for your common sense approach and up front conversations.
You are appreciated. Peace & Blessings from Arkansas in the Ozark Mts.

  6. I bought some on Amazon and they were not marketed as Ball or Kerr. I read the reviews. I will not use them for pressured but only my water bath method. I can’t find any anywhere so I think I have to use them and I will watch them carefully.

  7. I’ve used Tattler lids for years (nearly a decade) because I hate the idea of throwing lids away. I get no benefit from sharing my opinion, no discount from the company or anything — I paid full price for 200 lids last autumn! (I was only going to buy 50 because money was so tight, but my dear & very smart husband insisted I get quadruple that and he footed the bill.) Tattler lids do have a learning curve, but try them out and I bet your seal failure rate won’t be any higher after a few times of canning with them. Just follow the instructions from the manufacturer and give a little bit more headspace (for instance, an inch & a half where you would have used an inch). I do use disposable lids for jars I’m planning on giving away, and like I said, my seal failure rate is no higher with the Tattlers.

  8. I have been using the ball an Kerr lids and the quality has really gone down. They are much thinner metal and the sealing ring is much thinner and narrower now. I also have had more failures than I have had in the past with the older product. I sure don't want any loer quality than that!

  9. Thank you for being honest. I unfollowed two people here on Youtube due to products they "recommended" on their channel that were crap when I purchased them!

  10. I bought some of those OTHER brand & a couple of them bulged. I put them in the fridge to use pronto. I don't understand why there never seems to be enough canning stiff. They know we need it every year.

  11. If it does not say Ball or Mason it stays right where it is. I still have all the Ball and Mason jars from when we were canning from out huge garden growing up. When I see the lids for them I buy in bulk.
