Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark ๐Ÿ™‚ #garden #gardening #raisedbeds

  1. I netted and framed my raised beds like you showed on your video. Thank goodness! I have a naughty squirrel that chewed my rattan table on my deck and I think he is afraid of the netting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I'm growing tomatoes and peppers this year just to make my own hot sauce and tomato sauce this year. Also, hubby can always tell when I just finished binge-watching your videos because my accent "readjusts" (from being an Aussie living in the USA)

  3. Lacto fermenting pepper and cherry tomatoes to make hot sauce is my preferred method the fermentation takes the flavors from good to Ah-may-zing!!

  4. Bloody hell, the time he took to cover the laptop from the rain. It was terrible to watch. A single drop inside will start to corrode everything. Please don't ever do this again.
