Keep the seeds from the bit at the top x
You can’t think of everything ahead of time. That’s how we learn when things like that come up.
I'm not a homesteader or a gardener or anything even close to the source but I'm obsessed with your videos!!
Today I cut my onion tops and chopped them up to freeze. They smell amazing. Thank you for the tip.
I love your videos and keep up the good work.
Good tips. Thank you
Excellent info. I knew about the biennial part and that that is a reason they don't bulb some years, but I didn't know about the freeze/6 leaves limit. Millennial Gardener talked about this recently (NC zone 8a) and has indicated that he will be planting seed from now on. Can start them in Jan, plant in April/May and have the same results. Plus seeds are cheaper to buy.
Thankyou for sharing this lesson!! I certainly learnt a tonne! and it's onion time here now so I'm super super thankful! 🙂
My goodness, just when I think you cannot get any better (like a fine wine, you improve with age) you go and do this…share your mistakes. What a tonic you are! I hope your following continues to grow and that other young people adopt your work ethic and ethos. You're what our ailing planet needs! Fresh, homegrown, handmade, repurposing. You inspire me!
I love your out look! All the positives about it.
Great information and thank you for sharing!
Oh man thank you for this video!! Such a cool thing to learn about!
Thanks Becky!
Omg how come other gardeners on youtube never impart this sort of advice? It is the first time i have heardabout this, and i have always wondered
I love you! You are so awesome and I am loving learning so much from you!
You can also make onion powder from the bolted onions and greens!
Replant the bottoms of the onions for another harvest.
Thanks for sharing
Very interesting
Nature is so beautiful! Its amazing how the onions are "programmed" to go dormant during winter and then bolt in their 2nd growing season.
Mullein is the same way. It is a biannual but if it gets leaves before winter, it will go to seed the following summer. It does NOT take two years like some say, just one freeze season.
I’m so Inspired by you! Keep at it! ♥️☀️
Super informative, thank you!
Thanks for the information
Thank you so much for videos like this one!!!
Mine did the same
Thank u for all that information. Completely understand now are mine did the same thing but I still harvested and froze them
My onions also bolted. Thanks for the info, I also had a cold snap so your explanation makes sense
