Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂 #garden #homestead #preserving
G'day Everyone, I hope you all got into it this growing season and have plenty to harvest! Here's the link to Harvest Right freeze dryer website: https://affiliates.harvestright.com/1099.html
Congrats! I'm on my second one. I love it. Be sure the para-boil veggies, they reconstitute much better. Fruits are like candy when freeze dried.
I've always fancied one too. It looks like a lot of fun.
Just buy an EU to AUS adaptor and you're good, Australia has the same standard voltage as the EU
good luck mate!
It's not a waste of money. It's worth it in the end, to save more food in the long run
Please keep us up to date when you commence your freeze drying process
That's the sort of equipment that a legal MJ processing facility would use
Been wanting one of these for 10 years. Someday.
I'm soo jealous! I finally got my all american pressure canner! Thanks for inspiring me to garden!
I have a question. I have a cousin that is able to get galvanized steel for heavy duty roofing for us to build our garden boxes out of. I believe you use galvanized steel as well for many of your raised beds but it like like many of them are pre-made boxes. My question is if you know if the galvanized steel for roofing would still be safe for gardening? Thank you for your time in answering this question.
I expected that Reese from Malcolm in the Middle to jump out
As an American that plug is way bigger than anything i've seen so I'm not so sure about that. plus the two prongs are rounded when they should be flat.
hi please can you do a follow up video on how you are liking it so far and also can you discuss how long it took to arrive and the end cost in total?
I look at it as an investment in to your future…
Just think Mark , freeze dried fruit dipped in chocolate…
yup, that is the next item on the list i buy for food preserving!
We have just bought a house in Gympie. Looking forward to getting the garden growing, but now I also want one of these. Thanks for the link!!
My dream machine
Having controls over your food is such a blessing. From seed to table, the only processing is what you’ve performed, for your family, vs. some massive vat from which is extruded God only knows what, from salmonella to molds and.. additives. Everything on-site and under your watchful eye. Yes. It’s exhausting! You’ve chosen it as your way of life! Needs constant tending, day and night by more than one person, if you’re growing harvesting preserving securing etc. all or almost all your family consumes. Not for physically faint types! But the whole satisfaction you will get from changing into a homesite as useful as it is gorgeous is a daily job of work, needing patience, forethought, and determination. Once it begins to gel and you think, just for a moment, ahhh I’m going to take a break and relax—- hahaha nope! But there is such satisfaction derived from learning so much, and sleep at night really isn’t an issue, too often.
Enjoy your new tools. Stay safe and protected from TPTB.
What size did you buy? The medium or the Large?
I wish some of my impulses could have been sealed lol
Who cares what other people think, if you like it, if you can use it, and if you want to spend the money for it, then do it 🙂 I know I love watching it 😀
Congrats on your purchase!
When you're ready Park Makes here in YouTube might be able to help you design understorage for your bench
New sub. Love the toy. Worth while investment I recon for an excess harvest
