I already know the perfect location
This may be a perfect solution for me. I am a high school teacher and I am thinking about retiring but will need some additional income. We have a small piece of land that is commercial next to our house that we own that doesn’t have a lot of parking but there is a bar restaurant across the street that has good parking space and we know the owners well. I think I’m going to ask him if he would be willing to let us borrow his parking lot. That may bring in revenue for him as well.
Excellent series, we are thinking about setting one up just outside our community on a busy highway that has available commercial land. District population about 25,000 and highway is a major east west highway in Southern BC. District already primed with tons of fruit and vegetable production. Can't wait for the rest of your series. I've been a loyal subscribers for over 4 years now. Thanks for all the great videos and much appreciated advice.
Thank you Luke!!! This is fantastic!!!! This is a goal of mine!! You're the best!!!!

I was actually thinking of doing a farmers market when the city garden club decided to do it in the area that was already set up by the city.
Side hustle i think it’s possible for me I worked 2nd shift so I have time during the day to tend to my plants.

As a former business owner, this is good info. But take each thing he mentions and flesh it out. Do the homework! Location location location!!! Pay more for better location!!!!! Great video!
Hey cool new series! I'm not in the market for starting a market but I do appreciate learning what it takes to get one going. I'd love to know how many folks get a new one going after this! Thanks for starting this.

Thanks for the video Luke!
Great video and idea
Myself and a group of other female vendors created Tri-Town Farmers Markets last year (we were worried there would be no winter markets during the pandemic)- we hosted a winter market and then 3 summer markets, all were so successful. The women I work with are amazing and so knowledgeable- we are now a non-profit and our second year winter market has more vendor applications! We have theme weeks and those have been very popular!!
Watching liking and commenting to hopefully boost this to continue to see more episodes! Thank you!
This is really interesting, thank you for sharing!
It's a total dream to share what I grow at a farmer's market, unfortunately our local market only takes vendors from actual "farms" and not backyard growers. I just find it so sad because it's full of all the same stuff you get at the grocery stores (sure, maybe better quality and freshness, but come on, I can get orange carrots anywhere) and none of the weird, wonderful, and whimsical things I like to grow and experiment with in the garden.
You have helped me out a lot over the past few years with my gardening up here in the Pacific NW. A couple years ago one of our master gardeners at the local farmer's market was getting ready to retire and she convinced me to start selling starts at the market. I only had one small greenhouse and enjoyed the market so much, I am now up to 4 small greenhouses and make around $400 a Saturday for about 4 weeks. I even started a YouTube channel when I started and am up to a little over 700 subs. Thanks for the inspiration. Chris. https://www.youtube.com/c/CMooreStarts
