My parents grew up during the depression. My grandfather would put stones by the fire and then wrap them in blankets to heat the beds. They also repurposed everything. You fixed it or sewed it until it was no more.
aldi canned salmon 2.9@
get you eye safety wear dollar tree…
My mind keeps jumping that bug spray would be important. After having a high producing goat and now small milk cows calcium tablets come in handy.
This is such an important video! Talk with your significant other! Clearly you can see how differing thoughts are.
Basic medical supplies for humans and animals. Witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide, asprine/fever reducer, Neosporin, gauze and vet wrap, old school thermometer, ebsom salts, coconut oil and jojoba oil (does not get rancid). Iodine, bee's wax, calimine and bug spray. I'm sure there's more but these are essential.
Unsaid but perhaps taken for granted is a washtub. Multi-purpose of course, washing, bathing, etc., and on top of that, you can make music along with that washboard!
ESTATE SALES are a treasure trove for cast iron, supplies, tools, canning supplies, and well made clothes!!
Great ideas. Love the drill wire, and wood stove ideas.
Also get light bulbs that need no electricity.
Dryer lint also make a great fire starter
I love my lithium battery tools. And to power them i made a solar powered generator with multiple usb & ac outlets. And about 3- 12V batteries to add to my battery storage. Also i have vintage crank drills, and other non powered tool, very important. Also buy cheap cigarettes, few cartons. Many ppl will give up something good for a pack of cigs
Terra cotta pots and candles will heat a room quite nicely!
I visited the USSR in 1989 and the people told me they were given one light bulb they had to move from room to room. Light bulbs are important but often overlooked.
Toboggan in the south is a stocking cap FYI for those that are thinking sled
I have a dental emergency kit. Loved the video. Thank you.
I have a cold packer but a pressure canner would be awesome especially for meats & low acid foods
It's great to see y'all together on videos. Y'all compliment each other so much, like biscuits and gravy! Thank y'all for taking time to share.
Awesome video as usual. I look at my neighbors and it frightens me how many are clueless and don't take the hints to stock up even a little bit of food. I learned to can and dehydrate and have been putting up food daily for the last two months and will continue as long as I can find jars. Bless you for telling the unpopular truth.
Oh how I love your hubby being there with you!
Peroxide, pain relievers, DayQuil, nightquil, best investment ever… Large freezer and seal a meal w bags
A lot of good information! Thank y’all for sharing!
Love how expressive you are. Hilarious. Reminds me of me and my hubby.
I would add a water testing kits and some sort of preliminary filtration use before and in addition to a Berkey type filter. You might run out of stored water or need to source water from alternative sources such as rain water runoff or creeks, water borne illnesses like Giardia are no joke. Also have on hand a anti diarrhea type medicine and or anti parasite medications. Look into what might be best for you.
Long videos with important content are appreciated. Please don't avoid a long video when its as good as this. :^)
I used a kerosene heater just over night.
Maybe 6 hours.
I left a window all the way open.
The house was freezing.
It was almost useless with the window open.
I was surprised no pipes burst.
I basically ONLY did it bc it was that or die of freezing to death.
Guess what? 2 days in er.
And I didn't even have it in my bedroom.
I had it in the hallway leading to.
Glad to be alive.
Just fyi.
Good for garages. That's about it.
Fels-naphtha soap is a good item to stock up on and it has a multitude of uses
