  1. I love the names of the tulips. I have to say, I like the singles much better, even though the doubles are gorgeous. You had me at Happy People. Yellow is my fav color, and that name makes me smile as well as giggle.

  2. Your tulips bulbs look amazing. I hope you hired a digger to make shorter work of planting them.
I planted 150 tulips into 8 large planters I am following Karl darby's method.
Hopefully spring will be exciting in my garden.

  3. I love tulips but I avoid them due to squirrels biting off the flowers right at their peak. It is very frustrating so I focus on daffodils since the squirrels leave them alone. Squirrels are spiteful! I will enjoy your tulips instead. Thank you for sharing your passion.

  4. New hobby flower grower over here. I thought that tulips are a bulb, so they are perennial and come back year to year. Are you buying this many tulips to expand your farm, or are you not reusing your tulip bulbs every year?

  5. You got Camas bulbs! Those are native to the Gary Oak Meadows of Vancouver Island and were cultivated by the First Nations for their starchy bulbs. Grand Camas is big and beautiful, but I’m not sure how long they last as a cut flower. The bulbs will produce big flowers year after year on the Island, so you might want to consider keeping them multiple years. They die off quickly after flowering and hibernate through the dry South Island summer (admittedly not as dry as yours)

  6. I grow both the Camas and Saffron crocus down south of you in Portland. They are both super easy and should thrive. The crocus in particular seems to have lots of bulb multiplication every year. They bloom just in the fall, which is great because you can put them in with other flowers and they come up after everything else is done.
