Soap Is Safe! Well, natural, castile, free-of-perfumes and dyes soap is anyways. By far the easiest and safest way to control the big 4 indoor pests (Aphids, Fungus Gnats, Spider Mites, and Whiteflies) is to use an insecticidal soap spray. And fortunately, making your own at home is not only inexpensive, but its extremely easy!
There’s only 3 ingredients you need to make a highly effective natural insecticide spray. Safe for you, safe for your plants. In this video I not only show you my exact recipe for making the spray, but also how to apply it, for how long, and when. Say goodbye to indoor pests and hello to indoor growing nirvana!

I used insecticide on my Lemon Tree when I brought it inside. It worked, however, all the leaves fell off 🙁 The stems still seem green. Should I be worried? My bug problem were teeny tiny spider looking things and gnats or fruit flies. Great video. Thank you.
What do you recommend as an outdoor spray for scale on gardenia bushes. Neem oil doesn't do anything to get rid of them. I've even sprayed a soap and bleach combination on them. That helps but doesn't get rid of them. My bushes are 6' tall and wide They are blooming in Florida in December, so I can't trim them much. The temperature is in the 70s to 80s most of the time. Thanks for your help in advance.
Great clear information! Thanks!
I add garlic concentrate also, great info
In the recap, for the spider mites, the text says twice weekly sprayings, but you say twice daily. Seeing the other intervals are weekly, this one is as well?
Hi, Jeff!
I tried doing this before and it almost killed my plant, like it burned or something.
Yes, all the insects died, but I almost kill my plant. 🙁
We use that same Meyer's soap in the kitchen so I'm ready to go if I have a problem! great tip Jeff!
So yeah them.baduns move in but the good bugs has the doors locking them out.
Enjoy your Holidays
The last few weeks I’ve been getting double videos from you. Like this one on the insect spray it was put on my phone twice?
Nice to see you again. Seasons greetings Jeff!
6:20
1 quart water
2 Tablespoons natural dishsoap
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Thanks for the ratios. I tried to grow sweet potato vines indoors last year and out of nowhere they were devoured by spider mites. Also had a fungus gnat infestation that took a year to get rid of. Nothing worked except finally "mosquito bits." I brought in my sorrel this fall to overwinter and yuck I found aphids. Those things are ugly and I'm going to go spray them RIGHT NOW with your concoction!
In nature and in my garden, the bugs are the police of plants.
I have problems finding castille soap in liquid or bar form. I've seen Fels Naphtha soap which some people use as a laundry soap; but, it's also in bar form. I have cold-pressed organic neem oil that I can mix with some water and a bit of dish soap. I also have used diatomaceous earth. Our biggest insect problem has to do with the earwigs. They will chew leaves to smithereens.
Indoors, our biggest issue is with the fruit flies. But, they are attracted to cider vinegar. I put some cider vinegar in a small container and add a bit of dish soap to break the surface tension. It doesn't take long before the fruit flies have drowned. Then I dispose of them and start over.
I have another problem for my indoor plants. It is my cat; but, I don't want to get rid of him or kill him. He has destroyed my Madagascar Dragon Tree. But, the funny thing is he waited over a year before he started attacking it. Weird cat.
Hello, what is the use of oil, because it mixes very badly with soap and water. Personally I use natural black soap.
As a bioorganic insecticide, you can also use BT (Bacillus Thuringiensis), it is effective, even against caterpillars.
Thanks for repping the store I work at with the olive oil. Swear I saw you once in the store one day!
Just in time, I moved my peppers inside and a couple other plants… seeing a few white flies. Thanks
Great video Jeff! I've been using diy insecticidal soap for several years but I have not tried adding food grade oil to it. I can imagine how it might make the spray more effective. My wife makes homemade castille soap so I always have it when I need it. Going to try your insecticide recipe the next time I need to spray. Thanks for the information!
I have used cinnamon and that works very well
Should we boil the chlorine/fluoride out of the water; or is regular filtered tapwater good enough?
Thank you Jeff! How long is the mixture good to store in bottle?
Sweeeeeeet
I have tea tree and orange Castille soap. Or should I use no scented one?
What is natural dish soap . Can't find any.
