I had to deal with a bully on behalf of my daughter. She rode the bus for several miles over a dirt road to get home and this bully was getting on the bus with a sharpened pencil, she was assigned the seat behind my daughter (all seats were assigned) and would place the sharp pencil to where it poked over the back of my daughters seat. Every time the bus hit a pot hole the pencil would stab into the back of my daughters head. This went on for quite some time and she never told me about it until I found the marks. I did about the same thing with her that your daddy did and taught her to defend herself, then I drove myself up the valley to the bully's house where I had a conversation with her mother, who defended her daughter. At that point I told momma that if my daughter got off the bus with another mark on her I would be coming back to visit her (momma). The bully's mom asked the bus driver to move her and she never bothered my daughter again.
Never pick a fight….never run from one either. Have a backbone. You don't have to be in someones face. But you don't have to put up with anyone all up in your business.

I like to call it being "from the old school". You know when someone is from the old school they have what you are talking about. You don't have to be old to come from there, but you need to be raised by, or get your values from, someone who came from or was raised by someone from the old school. There are fewer and fewer of us among the younger generations, as those who own and control us think it is to their advantage if we don't have those values.
