  1. How do you pronounce …? It threw me for a second when you said PY-reth-thrum. I'd never heard that. I always thought it was py-REE-thrum & most of the pronunciation websites seem to agree. It reminded me of the first time someone said they saw a PI-le-ate-d woodpecker. I had only heard PILL-e-ate-d. In both cases, apparently either is acceptable. It's strange how words can be.

  2. Frost bite on trees or shrubs is called "tip burn." Plant trees that are viable for your growing zone. That dead tip could also be fire blight or other disease, and is more likely if the tree planted was hardy in your zone. It's unrealistic to cover trees with burlap, most trees are too tall, and especially not in an orchard with multiple or larger quantities of trees.

  3. Our problem here in N. Georgia are the temperature swings. It's been near 70 for a bit, then crashes at night lately into the lower 20s. The trees were totally faked out with the warm weather and began budding and even blooming. Now all that tender growth is being burned off. There really isnt anything to do but stomp our feet. I am hoping my mason bees weren't faked out as well. I'd hate to lose them.

  4. Always Love your videos and your super informative! I'm a new gardening youtuber just posted my 1st video. Please check me out guys!! I was a little nervous. Hopefully I can only get better.

  5. I live in Florida and I am ready to give up on gardening because my gardens are loaded with weeds, I am pulling weeds every day and they keep coming back, how can I kill off all the weeds and weed seeds that are in the beds. I am in 9b zone.

  6. Good topic Luke! Is frost bite more of what kills blackberry canes, rather than just cold? I am in zone 5a and trying to find a blackberry variety that can grow here, even if I have to take some protective measures, like wind breaks. Word seems to be zone 5b is okay, but 5a is not … but I’m still looking to try and find a way.

  7. What ever happen to the electrical heat wire? that was in the winter bed?if sorry if I missed the follow up video.I just planned spinach in a 2 layer plastic covered raised bed with 3 heat mats under the trays outside.it’s 30 degrees and the bed is average 40degs. This is for early spinach that will not need lighting and it will be hardened off.I hope it works.I hope you do more of this kind of videos soon?

  8. Do you have a full video on spraying fruit tress ?? I have never done it and really need to learn …I live near Jackson Michigan so we probably deal with the same problems..

  9. Here in Cass County Indiana we had rain 2 weeks ago but now it looks like we may be in a dry period for awhile. The soil in my yard especially on the slope in the backyard is really dry but it’s also freezing. Do I need to worry about this?
