  1. America is very lucky that bulk buying and preserving is such a common place activity. Here in Australia, we dont have many bulk buy outlets. Costco is not very big here and there are only a 2 or 3 per state, and nothing like your Azure standard. We are stuck with whatever "bulk" the supermarket sells, the biggest bag of rice and bread flour is 5kg (11 pound) and our "farmers markets" are more boutique rather than the type that sell tomatoes by the case.

  2. This was amazing! Thank you for spreading your message! You definitely inspire me to “homestead” but I’m taking small steps where I can because I’m in a very small apartment lol I can’t wait to have the space!!

  3. Is there an Australian version of Azure Standard and some of the other bulk goods resources that Becky uses? These sound amazing, but unfortunately I've not found an equivalent in Aus Land.

  4. I love this series! One thing I am interested in knowing is how you actually store your bulk items. Like, I’ve seen people say you need to seal them in Mylar bags with O2 absorbers or vacuum seal this and that. I am interested in starting to buy some bulk items but I don’t want them to go bad or get pests. I would rotate my stock like you do but I don’t want it to go bad in the mean time. It is just my husband and me here.

  5. I do try to keep pantry staples in quantities but am having a hard time w/ meats and frozen foods. How can you possibly be stocked up but yet find space for your freezer meals and 11 gallons of milk? I can’t even take advantage of sales right now because my freezer is so full.

  6. I bought the containers you suggested and yes, for my dog food. My present containers do not stack and I need the space in that room and now, I just have to move the dog food over to them.

  7. Other places to buy bulk stores like Bj's, Shamrock foods, Safe shopper, and restaurant supply stores. In san Antonio other than Costco and sams we have a desert on these types of stores. Heb is king in San Antonio, And I can't prove it lol but I think they block these stores from coming in.

  8. We put food up for hard times and that's the food we ate until the next garden season. Love having our stock pantry out in the country we been putting food up since forever and having things we need. Love this and plus we grow our food and hunting and raising our own meats.. love that way of life its simple.. love your videos!!!

  9. Becky, this was an excellent presentation. While we are not brand new to this subject, it’s always worthwhile to have such a thorough review. We can always improve our food storage journey. While we cannot do gardening as we’ve done in the past, we intend to do “some” growing of just a few fresh foods.
Thx for sharing your experiences and we look forward to your upcoming videos. Susan

  10. I would suggest looking up powdered milk. It isnt a perfect compromise as it takes some effort to mix it back up (it tends to clump) and it has lost some nutrition but you can store it outside of the freezer and it takes up much less space.

  11. Becky, thank you for producing this content. My husbands and I’d income is 100% effected by inflation. As it continues to rise, I wondered how do I even get started to be prepared. You have helped me find our start. Appreciate you!

  12. Nothing wrong with being a prepper.. Im am a prepper. Being responsible for the lives of four kids I always made sure to have a 1 year supply of food medicines, wood for the stove. The first time I had a rabbid raccoon in my back yard trying to get to my chickens I was grateful to have taken classes in gun safety and was able to take care of the problem. Being a prepper is a good thing to me.

  13. you have to have money to buy in bulk. I just priced a half a cow here locally from the rancher and they are asking 600.00, for half. I dont know if thats normal but I could buy a small greenhouse with 600.00, or a new freezer (but no meat to put in it) or almost pay my rent for a month. Tone deaf to the people struggling to just make it month to month which over 60% of the country is right now based on the last news piece I saw on the subject.
